Cycling gloves

I need to buy some cycling gloves as a gift. I’ve had a look and there are so many but I have no idea! All he’s said is he wants fingers and grip. I want to spend about £25. Any suggestions of a brand or what I should be looking for? Thanks

Wiggle is usually value for money... is this for winter cycling? Do you know his hand size?

What sort of cycling? I love Poggies but they aren't gloves. They do keep hands warm and because my hands are ungloved under them gears and breaks are fab. They don't fit on drops.

He just goes out on roads for a couple of hours at weekends so nothing too serious.

I’m a roadie - I usually do 2 - 3 hours in one go no matter what the weather/ season. For winter riding I use sealskinz all weather cycling gloves (I also have Reynauds) which keep my hands warm and dry to about 2 or 3 degrees. They are sufficiently grippy (even when everything is sodden) and padded in the right places. They keep the wind out. They have a long cuff with Velcro adjustment which is important for warmth/ waterproofness. For milder (autumn/ spring) conditions (including wet) I have a pair of Castelli Diluvio which are made of neoprene. If it is really cold or wet I have a cheap pair of goretex shell mittens (one size larger than normal) which I put over the top for guaranteed coziness.

Carnac which is one of Planet X's own brands do very good kit for the price. Some people look down on them because they are a budget brand but I've been impressed. I bought a pair of winter gloves on special offer for £15 last year and they are definitely at least as good as the £90 pair they were replacing.
