White tattoos in Ireland

Posting Craicnet to hopefully get some local advice on tattoo shops but also hoping this is picked up maybe in active, even for a short while, so I can get wider advice on white tattoos generally.

I know of only 1 person with a white tattoo (several actually) and I know she loves them, but I don’t know her well enough to ask her about them - also, she lives in the US so can’t give any local advice on where to go.

Anyone have a white tattoo (on white skin)? What is it like? Have you had to have it redone as it’s faded?

Also - anyone in Ireland (north or south) know of a tattoo shop which does white tattoos? Person wanting it done (it’s not me) lives in Belfast but happy to travel a few hours to somewhere if need be.

There is somewhere in Belfast!!!! Sadly I don't know where. I didn't ask more specifics. This girls white tattoo was magnificent. It looked raised almost, very subtle. I remember it because I don't generally like tattoos but this really caught my eye.
If you ring some of the big places in town they might be able to advise.

Thank you Belfastian! I’m also not usually a fan of tattoos but have an acquaintance in the US who has several white ones and I agree, they are really lovely. It’s not me that’s getting on, it’s a friend’s daughter, and she hadn’t heard of white ones before but now really wants to find out more about them and is really struggling to find anything out.

tattoos done with white ink, apparently they don't last very long or need regular touch ups.

There is a group on tattoos on Mumsnet. Not sure about in Ireland but a lot will depend on the design and placement. From what I've seen of white tattoos they work best as line work but aren't that good over wide areas - difficult to get good saturation.

Thank you! She wants a significant date and I think just a wee heart outline or something with it. So it’s not going to be a big design.
