They are recalling the Amby Hamock in the US. Does anyone know if it is also being done in the UK? I have sent them an email:

Yes, there is a thread on it in 'In the news' - sorry, can't do links. Not being recalled in the UK or Australia but is in the US and Canada.

It looks as though the children suffocated because the hammocks tilted over to one side and they got stuck between the fabric and mattress. There is supposed to be a remedial thingy coming out in January. I've emailed Amby UK and US to ask when it will be available in the UK. Opinions are divided on whether or not to continue using in the meantime.

Oh don't tell me that. Have borrowed one from HangingBellyOfBabylon and DD2 slept for 5 hours straight yesterday! Please don't say I have to stop using it

Would one of these solve the issue do you think? Wedge em in so no rolling...

I think the main things are to be very carefulk that it is set up proprly so feet lower than head and hard to roll. I'm keeping DS in it atm for the same reason but will move him when he looks as though he might start moving - 8 wks atm so reckon there is another month or so to go... Ithink the snuggler would help as would swaddling so can't move.

Yeah, i just found the other MN thread. it is here.

I just discussed it with DH and we are leaving our 6 month old in his. We are moving him to a cot after the holidays anyway and he doesn't roll in it anyway.

Having read the thread, Aitch stood out to me as the voice of reason. I have checked it is up right etc, and am continuing to use it.
