William need a bumper around a cot for a newborn baby? I'm not sure if there just for show or it's necessary to have one?

Hopefully someone a lot more knowledgable than me will pop along but there are SIDS risks associated with bumpers in cots. I didn't use any but my little dd is lively in her sleep so I use a breathable cot wrap which has slight padding in but is safer than traditional bumpers

Thanks for the advice, can I purchase one of those in any baby retailer?
