I understood that babies like a back and forth motion rather than a side to side motion. What do you all think?

My first two children had a swinging crib from mothercare and both loved it. Unfortunately gave it away as weren't planning any more but 3 years later and I now have dd2! :o here's a linky

Apart from when he was really small I don' t think the rocking bit has been much comfort to Ds. He' s nearly 4 months I can' t remember last time I rocked it. I find his weight means when he moves about now the crib can shake even though locked and ends up disturbing him (and me!) Advantages to crib is much bigger than moses basket so has outlasted friends with them. I didn' t buy mine - my mum kept it from when she had me:)
