Cots and beds

First bumper at nearly 10mo?

All of a sudden now DDs cot is on the lowest level it looks really bare. And now she's clambering she keeps bashing her head. Plus it's effing cold in our flat. So I though a bumper might be nice... Googled and found a lovely one from Vertbaudet and then saw the "cot bumper kills" articles and confused.

What's the general consensus on bumpers? Is it worth it at 10mo? Am I too late? If so what else might make her cot more cozy?

Poor baby!

I've seen the articles too (e.g. Chicago has outlawed the sale of them now) so our cot bumper (a gift) is wrapped round the wooden prongs of the linen bin that I kept walking into at night.

There is a breathable cot bumper but even so, the advice is that, if they are used, at 6 months bumpers should be removed because at that age the risk is of babies using them to climb out.

I know you can get teething protectors for the top rails - would that help a bit?

Thanks though can't fathom out how a baby could use a flimsy bit of fabric as a ladder?!?

Bumpers are not supposed to be used at this late stage due to strangulation hazard.
Baby could get caught up in it.

They are pointless really, put some teddys in there with him and a cot toy.
That should make it look more cozy for him.
