Self isolation help

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I am really confused and hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have been self isolating since last Monday 9th Nov after a notification from the app (my dad tested positive and I was with him on the day before) my last day in was due to be this Sat 21st Nov.

DH started with symptoms on Friday 13th, booked a test and it was positive.

Nhs test and trace phoned him up asking for close contacts, and he gave them my details.

I was emailed by them advising to now isolate until 26th November which is 14 days from onset of DH's symptoms. OK, makes sense as I could catch the virus from DH at any point in the following 14 days.

This morning somebody from NHS tracing phoned me to see how we were going and I mentioned that I had already been in for a week anyway. The chap on the phone told me that in that case I'd only need to stay in for the original 14 days from 9th Nov.

Although I'm desperate to get out, this doesn't sound right to me?

Really confused as to the conflicting info?

Hi. That’s correct. You just isolate for 14 days. You don’t need to restart your isolation period, you only restart it if you are showing symptoms. We’ve just been through this as a family of 6, with 4 testing positive.

Could it be entirely independent that you isolated because of your dad, but your DH got infected, unless literally neither you nor your DH have left the house? I think the T&T person got confused and thought you are isolating because you had symptoms. You'll need to call back and explain.

Well yes I think it was independent.

I isolated because of my dad, and have had no symptoms at all and I also had a test last week as part of the liverpool mass testing, which was negative.

DH wasn't isolating based on contact with my dad as he hadn't had any contact with him, only me.

So I think its likely that DH has picked it up elsewhere - and in that case does the 14 days start again i.e. in the example that kezza posted is DH is the same as the mum.

Will definitely have to call them back to clarify, was just trying to do my homework first

Yes, it should start again, very annoying but there you are. Best to call back.
