Covid

How does this work?

I tested positive on Monday. So I’ve been isolating in the house separately from my household. Then yesterday another member(DH) has now tested positive.

I’ve had two different responses from the 119 team. One told me that I, along with the rest of the other members need to isolate again for the 14 days starting from the last persons positive. Apart from DH who will do the 10 days.

Then the next lady who I phoned told me that no I just stick to my 10 days and the other members isolation(the kids) finishes on the original date from my symptoms, not DHs.

I’m thoroughly confused, as that is two different answers! 🙄 worst part is there is actually no Covid positive helpline to call, to get these answers. nor can I find anything online about this situation.

So I wanted to ask, to someone who’s tested positive, then a few days later had someone else test positive in the house hold, what did you All have to Do?
Restart isolation or just carry on from the original first persons?

Hope that made sense! 🤞🏻

Restart.
if DH Was doing chick are so wasn’t isolating from DC then he could have infected them so now they need to see if they develop symptoms from the day he started with his symptoms.

I’ve just looked on the nhs track and trace app rules and the rule says people need to isolate for 14 days from when the first person In your home started having symptoms. So am I then reading that incorrectly because to me it sounds like just people need to isolate from my symptoms only 🤦🏻‍♀️ I wish there was a clearer answer instead of 6 million different ones. Even the bbc has a different table for the household rules. This is what the bbc one is saying... mind boggled

You just need to do your 10 days. (From test day)
DH needs to do his 10 days (from test day)
Anyone else in the house needs to do 14 days from DH's onset of symptoms - because HE can still pass it on for those 14 days. Your date is now only relevant to you.

Personally, in your situation, I'd continue to quarantine if at all possible because it is possible to get it again & I'd worry about passing it on to others.

Hope you both get over it soon & well 🌷

You do your 10 days.
Your family do their 14 days from your symptoms starting, unless they become symptomatic.
Anyone who becomes symptomatic does 10 days from their symptoms starting.

Why is it 10 days from test day? Why not 10 days from symptoms starting?

Oh right, so that chart is incorrect then? As that chart shows it as isolation ends on the original day 14 for the 3rd person.
I’m only wondering as if one of the little ones Now catches it then my partner would be out of work again, so it’s a bit of a nightmare as wages have been sparse. Oh it’s just so confusing How they have so much different info out there like the chart above 😬🤯

The chart is correct, as is second person you spoke to on 119.

You can be infectious for 10 days from start of symptoms, (and very slightly infectious after that). So you isolate 10 days from start of symptoms. Anyone else isolates for 10 days from when their symptoms started.
The chart is sort of correct - anyone in the household without symptoms needs to isolate for 14 days - in case they get symptoms in that time. But if the children were unable to catch it from you because you were really good at isolating, it's faintly possible the children would catch it off DH instead. But young children may not have obvious symptoms - I'd include sore throat as a symptom btw.

For school, I'd go with 14 days from your onset.
For grandma, I'd go with 14 days from DH onset. (+ a few for good measure)

If I've misunderstood and either of you got tested without having symptoms, it becomes much more complicated.

Thank you, that makes much more sense.
I was isolating from Monday but had to stop isolating yesterday as my husband was the one looking after the children before he got his positive results. We’re trying to keep the children away from him as best we can now but obviously I’m around them all the time now as i am the one caring for them. I’m just praying they don’t catch it too.

Hope you all make a good recovery. Keep up with vitamin C, broccoli, apples and vitamin D if you have it. Kid gummy vitamins are handy.
