Hi everyone, my GP thinks I may have had covid 19 mid March as I was suffering with body pain, headache, was out of breath and felt like I had inhaled smoke, I am a long distance runner, and very strange overwhelming feeling, not to mention my heart rithm was all over the place.

Since then I have tried to get my fitness back to what it was but I have suffered with really bad stiffness, muscle ache and strange sour head like I had been up 48 hours. Heartbeat that feels like it's about to pop out of my chest. And memory lapses.

I am getting my fitness slowly back but something in me feels like that won't happen? I have had blood test for b12 and d vitamin deficiency but came out normal, and yeah forgot to mention when I try and run my legs seem to give way, they seem to loose sensation? Weird feeling and I get strange pins and needles in my limbs. GP has only asked me to monitor it

I've only heard posters mention similar symptoms when talking about MS.

@Bmidreams

I've only heard posters mention similar symptoms when talking about MS.

I find it fascinating that I get accused of scaremongering. Total lack of empathy in this response.

Sorry to hear about your symptoms OP. They do fit with COVID-19. There is uncertainty about how long recovery takes, but the main advice is not to push yourself and give your body plenty of time to clear the infection and its after effects. This process can take months. Keep in touch with your GP and report any adverse changes. Hopefully there won't be any and you will make a full recovery.

While I certainly don't think anyone should be diagnosing you with MS over the internet (w the actual f?!) I am a bit worried that something else could get missed if you and the GP are both working on the assumption that it has to be long Covid. It could be, but I'd be pushing hard for more tests than just b12 and vitamin D - especially given that you don't actually know you had Covid-19 I think it should be a diagnosis of exclusion and you need tests to rule out other, unrelated things.

Thank you everyone, my GP did mention Ms at one point but did say that he had patents who were describing similar symptoms.

I am just not getting any better and have good and bad days, hense asking.

Ffs I wasn't trying to scaremonger! I literally read a thread 2 days ago where posters described their legs giving out from under them and having pins and needles and fatigue. It was at the forefront of my mind. I do take things very literally, and just matched the symptoms up in my mind. Sorry, op. Like you said, your GP had mentioned this and discounted it.

I had those symptoms in March - plus a sore throat - and a bit more chest pain. I had a mild temp for 8 hours - although Dh didn't but had other symptoms. I have Covid antibodies so entirely possible. I haven't had any long term problems though - sorry to hear it has been so rubbish

I've been stiff but put it down to working from home sat on the sofa. Otherwise my symptoms were gone in 72 hours (late March) dp still has no sense of smell and is achy

I think you need to go back to the GP, say that you've seen no improvement at all and ask what else they would have considered under 'normal' circumstances, ie if you hadn't had suspected Covid-19. If it is long Covid then having checks for other issues is pointless but harmless, if it isn't then you're potentially losing time not treating the actual issue and, in the worst case scenario, that could be very harmful.
