"It might be the case that people have to wear masks, it might be that people have to have their temperature taken on entry," says Alex Black, manager of Thekla, a 600-capacity club and music venue in Bristol.

Crucially, Alex says the dancefloor will be closed: "If they have a couple of drinks and start slacking on distancing then the dancefloor isn't going to be possible."

Other new features could involve one-way systems - similar to supermarkets - and temporary outdoor toilets, with stewards brought in to regulate both. The cost of these extras, plus any cut taken by the ordering app and fees paid to the council for using extra land, mean profits will be hard to come by.

It sounds so depressing, existing, not living.

Fuck that. No one will bother, it sounds shit.

Why even bother going? I certainly wouldn't. You'd have a more relaxing, fun night at home with a few friends.

I would have to be very desperately for a night out to endure this!

"Endure" it?! It's not that bad!

It sounds as much fun as a trip to Asda. I'll stay home and drink thanks.

Sounds shit to me. I genuinely just wouldn’t bother.

I wonder how people will ‘meet’ in future. Will one night stands still exist?

Makes me sad for the young people. What a load of shit. Thanking my lucky stars I got to dance on tables drunk kissing a few frogs. Those were the days.

Of course one night stands will happen.. this isn’t going to be forever. These are just procedures being considered for the time being while the virus is at large. These industries have to try to open or they’ll collapse Sad

But once there is a vaccine or the virus becomes weaker or the case numbers are as low as seasonal flu for example, things will return to normal. We won’t be social distancing for the next 100 years! The ever popular Spanish Flu theorists can even acknowledge it didn’t go on for long. Two years & normal life resumed!

yeah .... I don't think people will be willing to wait for two years to get a shag!

But it is only on par with flu and we are enduring hell. What hope is there

So glad I’m not young and single at the moment. Was it Matt Wanksock who said people won’t be able to ‘hug a stranger’ until there’s a vaccine? Completely taking away the normal interactions between people that make life worth living.

They don't need to go to a bar for that. Most just use Tinder or the like now for dating.

I won't be bothering with any nights out until there's some kind of normality. If there's no normality by this time next year then there'll be no pubs left anyway.

^ yup that's what I mean ... make as many laws & restrictions & guidelines as you like & people will still find a way to fuck. Have you seen the safe sex in the time of covid guidance? Make sure you wear a mask ... honestly it's beyond ridiculous now.

Laniakea my personal favourite is ‘use socially distant forms of foreplay, such as talking’

I can see a comeback for 1980’s style raves. Illegal gatherings here there and everywhere. They were fun back in the day!! ACID......

Agree with the “raves” comment! And young people will just have parties at home. Who can blame them.

Already happening here in Woodlands and forests everywhere. Is this the second wave of rave Smile I was there at the start of it all, the real summer of love 1989. Reckon I've got a few more left in me

Every park I go too (nice ones too) I keep seeing laughing gas canisters everywhere, I think that’s the current in thing at the min!!

It is round here anyway.

But people don't spend often large amounts of cash for a night out in the expectation that it will be 'not that bad'. They want to have fun, to relax, to let their hair down. If they're going to have a regimented experience with one way routes through the club and asking stewards for permission to use the bathroom, most people would prefer to buy some drink from the off-licence and invite some friends around instead.
