Our local gym saying it’ll re-open

I just saw a post saying our small local gym is looking to open and outlining what it’s doing to be safe. It doesn’t say when.
Surely this can’t be right. Particularly when outdoor children’s playgrounds can’t even open!

I suppose the difference between those two scenarios is that nobody is coming along between each use and cleaning the equipment in an outdoor park.

They can't open yet. Maybe in July warliest but theres been no official date. If they haven't set a date then they are just reassuring clients that they are still in business and will reopen with measures in place.

I've had an email from my gym detailing the new arrangements when they are allowed to open. I will be happy to return.

Its a completely different scenario to a children's playground. Adult facilty, social distancing can be enforced, rigorous and frequent cleaning - not quite the same as a bunch of children running around

Being an adult facility probably makes it more likely to transmit coronavirus, not less. It cannot open yet, and hopefully children's outdoor playgrounds will open, before any virus breeding indoor facilities.

Our gym is making its plans for when it can reopen - they are hoping July but we do not know. They are not saying they will open now, just making plans for when they can

Nothing wrong with making plans and letting customers know what the plans are, even if they can't re open yet. I'm going to be emailing my dance studio plans out to parents this week, even though we are not yet close to a re opening date.

@Pipandmum, the OP didn't say they were opening now, she said they were making plans. I think that's not only pretty commonplace, but also pretty sensible.

I filled in a survey a day or two ago from my gym asking how likely I would be to come back if {and it listed what they were already planning to do}
It was asking for customers' opinions on things like..... waiting outside to wait for a 'space' to be available...... or booking time slots..... or how long people would want to stay in the gym {if booking timeslots}....and if it would be easier for you to book via an app or phone call or website....... and if you would be happy to come, use equipment and go home without the changing rooms and showers being open......and if you would want there to be classes..... or if you would use classes streamed live to you by social media..... etc etc etc.
