I did it without bloody thinking. A bloke I know via the internet through a shared interest, but have never met before today, was giving away something I needed, and only lives a 10 minute drive away, so I went to collect it this afternoon. He opened the front door and put his hand out and I instinctively shook it, before we both realised, laughed and backed away. We both hand sanitised and kept our distance after that, but it’s made me realise how fucking easy it is to forget yourself. I’m not the most tactile person; not especially huggy with family and friends, and I’ve been so careful and aware until today, but I used to work in banking and handshaking is just kind of instilled in me from that I’m not overly worried about it, as it was a brief moment of contact, but it’s shook me how easily I forgot what I’m no longer allowed to do. I guess I now get the “Stay alert” thing!
