Anybody how long a first class letter takes currently please

Just that really
A birthday card
Normal size not A4
Just wondering if it will get there in time
Realise it’s not a huge dilemma compared to everything else .
I put 3 first class stamps on as couldn’t find a Post office open

Why does 3 stamps make a difference to one? Genuine question!

Depends. Things I've sent out have still been getting there in normal time, whereas I've a strong feeling they're only delivering to us on a Friday - we get a huge lump of mail once a week. So I think the answer is, you can't tell. I suspect if the destination is on a purely residential postal round it's more likely to have deliveries cancelled than if it's on a round which includes businesses.

Letters are no longer being delivered on a Saturday, so post early in the week for the best chance of a prompt delivery.

Don’t know about 3 stamps to be honest

Extra stamps are only needed if you cannot accurately determine the weight of the item and it’s likely it will be over the threshold for one stamp, as it avoids a charge upon receipt to make up the balance...It doesn’t make any difference at all to how quickly it might get there. For a normal birthday card that fits within the large letter and doesn’t weigh more than usual one stamp would have been fine.

I sent my dad a birthday card last Monday and he revived it today. I took it to the post office so I’m sure I had the right stamps on.

2 birthday cards put together in the post. One recieved last Tuesday, still waiting for the other.
2 cards and 2 presents taken to the post office last Monday. One recieved on Tuesday, still awaiting the other 3.

Totally unpredictable currently.
