DVSA Driving Theory Tests rebooking from 8 May - a sign of things to come?

DS had his theory test cancelled as it was in April. I just saw the old email and thought I'd check the website. Lo and behold they are now taking bookings from 8 May!
Strangely though, we were told we would be emailed to rebook when things started again, but haven't been?
He's just booked a new date for mid-May. Think we will take a view on this nearer the time.

I wonder if this is a sign of what government departments have been told to prepare for in terms of beginning to reopen things?

I'm not sure. I think it's just wishful thinking in some parts tbh or to do with the way the system works the penalties for too King a delay.

DD's practical test was cancelled at the start of all this. She's had a new test date sent through for the end of July.

Her driving instructors has, however, already warned her this is lovely to be postponed again. He can't see driving instructors being high up on the priority list and obviously you can't socially distance. He thinks they may just be allowed for essential workers initially and then gradually work it through.

My dd’s driving test in mid May has been rearranged for August. Remains to be seen whether it goes ahead and she’s got nowhere to drive to at the moment.

My SILs driving test was cancelled and rescheduled for early June, that test has now been cancelled and she has a new date in September.

Driving lessons have restarted in Germany with masks. Why can't we do that too?

DS had his driving test rearranged. He was due to take it the day after they closed the test centres. Hugely frustrating because I'm sure he would have passed. He's looking for work and being able to drive currently would be a huge bonus. I think the rearranged date is June or July. Not sure if it will happen and he's going to need a bit of a refresher first after a few months of no lessons.
