Quick question on click and collect

My sister lives with us and has cancer so we have all been shielding. I’ve struggled to get some delivery slots, and for one week in particular at end of April. I’ve just managed to get a click and collect slot for a supermarket I wouldn’t normally go to.

For anyone who has done click and collect, can you tell me how it works? I wouldn’t do this unless I really couldn’t get a delivery any other way (and will keep trying!) but I’m trying to minimise the risk.

Thank you!

Which supermarket? I know that at Morrison’s you drive to a specific parking place and click on a link on your email to say you’ve arrived. The shopping is then brought to you. You can wait in the car whilst they put the bags down then load them in to your boot.

Asda you go to set point in the car park normally by the main entrance
There are normally a few staff there tell them your name or show the order
They bring it out. You put it in your car and drive off .
At my Asda’s yesterday everything was in carrier bags but it’s worth taking your own

At Asda you go to a screen and put in your order number then collect your shopping from the lockers.

It's usually pretty obvious - some have a van or hut in the car park. You pull up, take your name and order number, I usually wind down the passenger window and the staff have stood well back, but my mum writes it on a piece of paper and holds it up, stay in the car then they'll bring your crates out. I think everywhere is using bags at the moment, so let the staff walk away then hop out, load your bags in the car, leave the crates, and drive off. They sometimes have paperwork to hand over and may want to explain any substitutions. Note that they aren't doing substitution refunds at the moment so be careful what you tick if you don't want these!

You guys are legends - thank you so much! I got the slot with a Morrison’s but will be prepared for all the above situations. I’m just really aware I don’t want to harm my sister when she has zero immune system right now and is so vulnerable. We haven’t been out in 5 weeks, so it feels a bit scary!

As it’s Morrison’s be aware that you have to finish editing 72 hours in advance! I learnt the hard way.

Ooh I didn’t know that, thanks @DownWhichofLate, I’ve literally just said to my mum that if I forget to edit any of these slots we are going to have a shed load of champagne this month Grin

I work for Morrisons home delivery/click and collect. Exactly as has been said before, you click the link in your email when you arrive in the designated spaces in our car park. Please be aware though, we are not allowed to open your car boot or close it (in case we cause damage). You can open it ready for us coming out with your groceries so there is no contact at all. All groceries will be bagged and we will put the bags into your boot. Any questions, just ask Smile
