Covid

If the lockdown is extended to include all non essential work, do you think the Queen would have to clean her own loo?

And make her own dinners and hoover? Because surely all the house keepers etc for royalty couldn’t be classed as essential workers.

I’m not sure the Queen would know where the bleach is kept or even how to open the special childproof lid. She’d probably wear her fabric gloves instead of marigolds too.

I don’t know why but in my head I have a hilarious image of her doing housework in the ‘I want to break free’ by Queen video. Clearly the madness of lockdown has well and truly set in here 😂. I think the Queen wouldn’t make a big fuss about it all but I bet Camilla would do everything for Charles. Mind you, he’s probably having a fabulous time talking to his plants and enjoying not having to travel all over the place looking interested and having tours of goodness knows what.

Lighthearted obv.

We know by now that the royals are pretty much excused from sticking to the general guidelines... starting with collectively decamping to their second homes.

I bet she is in lockdown with an army of minions. dont worry, she will be fine.

Well she kept house for Phillip and herself when they lived in Malta.
They have very few staff when at Balmoral and do their own cooking and dishes when they stay there.
BUT at 90-odds I wouldn’t be happy with my own Gran doing all that work (unless she really was fit and able).

Is HRH able to clean her own bog? I'd have thought she'd find it quite difficult at her age. So I presume she has 'essential carers' to descale the royal throne.

Like a true MNer, I find myself wondering if HM has a bog brush.

I think the Queen is probably quite handy if needed (she was a mechanic of some sort in WWII/does the washing up at Balmoral etc) it's probably the younger ones who are less so!

I am.wondering if kim Kardashian Is. Doing hee own cleaning? She can't even use the excuse that She s old!

I'd expect the Queen to do it before I would expect Kim Kardashian to do it. She's far handier. Age and infirmity would probably make it more likely she has help than hoity toitiness.

Do they have live-in staff? If so I think they would be classed as part of the household and therefore exempt.

Pretty sure that home help for a 93yo is essential work. Whether the 93yo be on the bones of her arse or the richest granny in Christendom.

I'm curious to know how many staff are with William and Kate!

Staff are both household and, with the Queen being 93, carers to the elderly and vulnerable. 😂 She won't be firing domestos down the loo, soz.

I reckon she’d manage alright if required; she was a girl guide in an active by all accounts and enlisted during WWII so I think she’d be more practical than other members of the royal family!
But at 93 I hope she has help! Though I’d not be surprised if she had reduced her household essential staff for their and the staffs safety for the duration - she seems more proactive than others too!

I think - nonagenarian couple who are self-funding social care, can continue to receive it

(my DMum would be temporarily stuffed if she had to give up current arrangements and await council assessment - she can self care, but it's significantly difficult)

Maybe she’d accept having to do a little extra in the same spirt as her mum who famously said ‘now I can look the east end in the eye’ after Buckingham palace was bombed
