Why only 135 recovered from the virus?

It's been the same number for weeks now. Can anyone tell me why the number of recoveries isn't changing. I'm puzzled.

Because they are not counting them. They knew it was an unreliable statistic so stopped updating.

I read on the stats thread that you need two tests to prove your clear of the virus. I suppose at the current time, it’s just not a priority.

They haven’t got capacity to test everyone with the virus, so I guess they’re not testing people to be able to count them as recovered either.

What does recovery mean? Out of intensive care? A lot of the infected don't go to intensive care and stay on the ward - so those numbers will always be lower.
Discharged from hospital? Feeling completely back to normal? Neither are easy to measure.
Negative swabs after a positive swab? We aren't doing that, once you get a positive swab result, that's it. The tests are being prioritised to diagnose sick people, not confirm recovery.
We don't have a good measure for recovery, thus that number is meaningless.

Thank you for explaining that. Smile

There’s a global definition of recovered, which from memory involves 2 negative tests and 10 days without fever.

There's also just an incredibly long lag between becoming sick and 'recovering'. Of friends who have been ill, they have been ill for probably about 2 weeks (like desperately ill and unable to get out of bed - these are the 'mild' cases). Some with more serious cases could be in ICU for 3 weeks. Looking at the numbers from Wuhan in the early weeks, only about 1/3 had 'recovered' 4-6 weeks in. Recovery physically just takes a long time, even if someone is still counting.

Those figures aren't updated. Neither are the "seriously ill" ones. They were stuck at 10 for a week which is why a lot of posters were given abuse by the Covid deniers. They see a number, they believe it. Even when doctors and nurses were posting saying "that can't be right, we have more than 20 in ICU in our hospital"
