How long do I need to self isolate for?

I started getting symptoms on Friday last week. I live with my two DC and as a single parent I’ve not been able to isolate from them. My youngest started getting symptoms on Friday too, but my eldest has no symptoms.

According to the leaflet that came with Boris’ letter, as patient zero in the house, I need to isolate for 7 days, with other family members isolating for 14 days. Presumably that means my youngest will be ok to leave the house on Friday as she got symptoms the same day as me, but my eldest has to isolate for another week (or potentially longer if she starts showing symptoms in that time)? I’ve read conflicting timescales online and just wanted to check that I’ve understood this correctly?

Neither me or my youngest have a temperature, just a cough and in my case tight chest/woozy feeling which comes and goes.

Your eldest isolates for 14 days aa that's the incubation period. If they get symptoms in that 14 days then they isolate for 7 more days from the start of those symptoms. If you and your youngest are feeling better after 7 days then you can both leave isolation.
