This can't be right??

Just had a call from a friend who's son works for a transport company. From this Friday all staff apart from 5 will be furloughed. There will be 4 staff working together full time in a small office, and, one driver. Two of the office staff are being drafted in from another division. So, 2 + 2 haven't met before. Yet, members pf the public sat in a park (who are out in the fresh air) get moved on. Surely this can't be right?

The people sitting in the park, assuming they're from the same household, and are distancing themselves from others sitting in the park, IMO, shouldn't be being 'moved on'....

I am 'amused' at some of our staff canteen workers, who are becoming a little hysterical around the 2m rule as we file in for lunch.

Yes, I'm within 2m of the person I'm chatting to, because, like the vast majority of us in that line, we have spent the last six hours sitting shoulder to shoulder, in often quite confined spaces, and will spend the next six doing the same.

We're coalface NHS. No public allowed, now. And if we don't know, let alone work with the person either side of us in the queue, we distance.

What do you suggest then?
Can the office staff work from home?

What does people sitting in a park have to do with your mate's son being furloughed - I fail to see connection.

People lying in road blocking the lorries, or sabotaging lorries... but O didn't mention those things.

I don't understand this post. It has happened to most people, there is no other option

lljkk, I was merely pointing out that (for example) a couple, or, a family are not allowed to sit together in a park in the fresh air without being moved on by the police, BUT, work colleagues are being placed in a small office in CLOSE CONTACT for 40 hours per week. The point of my post is not about the workers being furloughed, it's about NO SOCIAL DISTANCING AT WORK when PEOPLE ARE DYING

@ToThePub I think the OPs point is that why is it ok for 2 people to be moved to work with 2 other people from a different location when social distancing says 2m for those not in your household.

Sorry OP but it may have escaped your notice that this is not always possible. The company are obviously taking steps to downsize and protect. Presumably these 4 people do not display symptoms. It's easy for the virtue signallers to scoff but the fact is that businesses need to keep going and it sounds like they've thought about it.

The park bench is irrelevant.
