Furlough payments?

People who have been furloughed since March (mid or end?) - have your wage been paid? Or your wage would only be paid WHEN the business receives grant from Govt? My DH was furloughed on 30th March and got paid for only upto 29th March. I guess his employer is waiting for the grant to cover the remaining 2 days of March and then the full April... But how people would manage if they were furloughed mid month? Thanks

My understanding is that the company pay the 80% (choosing to top that up by 20% if they wish) and then submit a claim to the HMRC portal, which is not yet in place.

So hopefully he'll get the rest of his March payment in with his April wage.

I get paid fortnightly so got paid on Thursday one week full pay one week at 80% . 2 weeks time I'll get paid again at 80% and so on depending how long I'm furloughed.

My employer is paying us out of his own pocket until the grant comes through. Not all employers will do this though.

I got furloughed on the 23rd but my employer paid me my full monthly salary as a gesture of goodwill, as of April it will be 80%.

Depends on company cash flow. Some companies will wait until they receive the government cash. If the company does have some cash reserves, they may choose to pay in advance of receiving the payment.

DH was told his company way shut in the 3rd week of March. He usually gets paid weekly but hasn't had anything since he's been off. He's been told they hope to pay him at the end of April!

My boss said she may only be able to pay us when the money came in from government (no cash flow at the mo)

Furlough does not replace your employment contract. You should still get paid on the usual date. Employers need to fund it somehow. Not your problem.

Good luck

Employers should not stop paying staff. They should pay you as usual and apply for reimbursement from the scheme.

My last wage was 20th March. We usually get paid weekly but my work has said they have no money.

We will be paid at the end of April.

I'm an employer and have furloughed all of my staff

I will be paying them monthly as usual (although 80% only), and will claim for this money when it's set up - could take many months to get this back!!

I'll take a loan out if I have to, to cover wages. Staff won't be able to cover rent etc without their monthly wage
