Wales - Shielding letter

Good evening.

Has anyone in Wales received their letter yet? We have received a text from our DDs nurse to say she is in the shielding category but we are still waiting for the letter.

Does anyone have an email / number for me to contact to chase this up please?

Also, where do we stand as parents regarding this? We can’t isolate ourselfs away for our young DD who also has SEN. I’m unsure if we should even be shopping but there is no availability for delivery.

Have you looked at the gov.wales site? It says if you haven’t received your letter by 6th April to contact your GP. If you’re struggling you could qualify to receive the food parcels available from 31st March. I know families in our support group (England) have already received them. We are all isolating ourselves as a family as far as possible to shield our son as it’s not possible to socially distance from him in our home. Have you tried getting deliveries from your local shops? We have found it easier to get than supermarket deliveries and our local bakery and fruit/vegetable shop are delivering for free.

Thank you.

Can you please put the link up for the Welsh gov website as I can’t seem to find that page. The one I’m looking at says 29th of March.

My DF has COPD but no letter. Seems the criteria changed from 'anyone who has the flu jab' to severe COPD so he's still supposed to be at work. Luckily for him in this case, he's zero hours. Obviously that's awful financially but I don't believe he'd survive Covid.

gov.wales/get-coronavirus-support-extremely-vulnerable-person

They have tightened up the criteria there’s vulnerable and extremely vulnerable now. Hope you get sorted out with some support and deliveries. It’s a very stressful time for you.

Vaughan Gething said yesterday 81000 people in Wales will be getting their letters next week.

I just called my GP to get my copy of the letter who then sent it via text to download. Call your surgery they should help and send it on

Wales have said they'll be out by the end of this week haven't they?

Ridiculously slow when you consider that anyone actually needing this letter will have been out in public for a full two weeks unless they've taken it upon themselves to self isolate.

It’s ridiculous. Our DD is on the extremely vulnerable group but still no letter. We did manage to speak to the GP earlier and hopefully they will be able to sort it out. We have been shielding her and ourselfs as a family but lucky that I did check.

I’m glad that your Dad got his letter, we are South Wales too. Hopefully tomorrow we can finally get it sorted and book a shopping delivery slot.
