Saliva ovulation kits - confusing results

I bought one of these before my first pregnancy and didn't even use it as got pregnant straight away which I am very grateful for knowing many friends who have gone through the whole gamut of infertility problems.

I have been using it for a few months and find the results a bit confusing. I have had the ferns to show I'm fertile but rarely first thing, ussally on the 2nd or 3rd go later in the am. Then I thought you only got ferns for 5 days but last time I got them for 7. I'm going to buy some of the other testing kits as well and am tracking other ovualtion symptons but haven't done the temp thing yet.

Anyone used them and had similar results?

I tried the saliva test and it just confused me. I tried in conjunction with pee sticks and they came up positive but no ferns. Or I would get one day of a few ferns then nothing else. The worst bit was I would have about a week of crystals then no ferns. Gave up with it in the end when the consultant told me that despite having 30 years' experience he couldn't work the saliva tests out! Also think my pcos might have interfered as my hormones are up the spout.

I have PCOS and despite reading everywhere this shouldn't interfere.I am sure it does! Never once had a fern or crystal with the saliva kits, despite having positve blood results...........

Thanks for the info. I bought some cheap ebay ovulation kits so I will compare the results.
