have been having a fairly obsessive 2ww and am cd31 of ucl29/30.

Had woeful cramps last thurs but then no af and wondered if these were implantation cramps which i also had with dd. felt nauseous all morning (albeit possible from obsessing so much) so went and bought a clear blue plus test.

This test shows a plus for pregnant and negative for not pregnant on a kind of digital display.

The horizontal line is there of course but there is a faint faint vertical line. you have to look for it but theres something. surely you cant have evap lines on a clearblue?

can anyone help?

Was the line there within the time limit?

Are you monitoring for ovulation? If you were expecting your period yesterday, the line would normally be very obvious by now.

i think i am 15dpo but i read somewhere that you normally implant between 6-11 days after this so this is why sometimes you are late but get a negative test. if i was right about thursday being implantation cramps then its only 4 days since then.

Straw clutching madly here!

I've been reading "What to Expect" and the author says that the only way you can get a positive line on a pregnancy test is if you have HcG in your system, and the only way you can have HcG is if you are pregnant.
So according to her, any kind of line, even a really faint, barely there one, means you would be pregnant.
If you wait a few days and test again the line should get stronger, if it goes away it means you have had a chemical pregnancy, but a pregnancy all the same.
Hope this true and you get the result you want!!

I've had faint lines on a clearblue which turned out to be just evaporation lines because I didn't read the test within the time limit. Having said that when I got pregnant (sadly miscarried) I didn't get a positive until I was a few days late so that can happen too.

You can get evap lines - but I thought it was after a few days...? Anyway, I would trust the digital tests far more. Reads Pregnant or Not Pregnant and says straight away if Pregnant. Had way too many of the "faint lines" in the past and you have that awful am I, aren't I. Also, I had the second line once, promptly took myself off to Marie Stokes (as that was my mindset at the time) only to find that actually I wasn't pg, and that it was a false positive!!

thanks for all the advice peeps.

actually found in a diary from before my mmc that my last cycle before that was 32 days. i am cd31 today so maybe that would explain faint lines.

driving myself nuts but will keep you updated..

beanieb/geepers, the line appeared within the time limit strangely one side of the line has faded and one side has gotten stronger but defo at the time was faint line.

The Clearblue plus / minus tests are renowned for giving unclear results - as are most blue dye tests (mainly ue to uneven lines or evaps).

I would recommend the First Response ones- i got a clear positve 4 days early and i also love the digital clear blues.

Go get a different test and put yourself out of misery :-) Good luck

LeeWT - any news yet?

WElllll

Took clearblue again this morning, positive and faint.

Got to work and spent yet more hard earned spondooleys on First Response tests and took one of those. Positive, definately there but faint enough.

so the big question is (bearing in mind I recently had a MC so am obsessive and emotional) is - is there something sinister about the faintness of the line..

Panicking about a CP or early MC.

Just wish it was a stronger line and i could celebrate..

Well - I would say that you ARE LeeWT... so congratulations... BUT given your history and presumably your state of mind not quite believing this at the moment, I would get an appointment to see your GP asap, show the test result and ask for an early scan, which I'm sure would be granted under the circumstances. Could be excitement ahead....!!!!

I think it sounds promising. If you have another First Response left over, do it in the morning to see if it has got darker. Fingers crossed for you!! I really trust those tests and a pink line is a pink line on those. Can you post a pic on you profile of the test for us all to see?

I believe hcg takes a couple of days to double so it may take a couple of days for the line to get noticibly darker.

dont know how to post pic but have shown it to dh and he agrees. will do first response either tomorrow morn or morn after as id like a proper BFP to put my mind at ease..

thanks for all the advice..

AND it just goes to show that when you think its period cramps it really can be implantation..

Hi Lee
congratulations - completely completely empathise with your story and just wanted to post that have had exactly similar experiences with both my pgs, and tbh i did LOTS of negative tests for about 5 days after my period due date both times..eventually it's been a faint FAINT line which eventually....turns into a baby! But dammit man it always seems to cost a bomb in tests!!
So I'd go with the usual mumsnet advice that a line is a line is a line, and the faintness of the line doesn't tell you whether it's a sticker or not, it just means you are pg and that you should breathe a sigh of relief...and then start the usual early weeks wait of hoping all goes ok!
And yep go to GP and try get an early scan, might put your mind at rest
Good luck!

thanks mummyelk! thats so reassuring! will keep you updated and yes its cost an absolute fortune

-10 ebay cheapies (little dip sticks) (£5)

  • 5 ebay cheapies (midstream) (£6)
  • 3 first response (£15)
  • 2 clearblue (£8)
  • a partridge in a pear tree!

Have two ebay cheapies and a first response left after TTC for ONE MONTH! Obsess much?!

will let you know tomorrow after doctors!

well took my second first response this morning and its a little stronger but not much, def not as dark as the control line.

BUT i realised from an old diary that ive been miscalculating and my cycle is actually 32 days and not 29. also realised that my strong cramps were on day 18 and day 26 which would be ovulation and implantation. strange how you can figure it out.

while i am -getting positive tests they are not just as strong as i'd like and i'm two days overdue af.

hoping this miscalculation explains the faintness.. off to doctors now, wish me luck

I would relax - you def are preggers and it does take a while to get a line as dark as the control line. Hope Dr's went ok - I think you can start to believe that you are knocked up!

Back from the drs and he did test and it came up positive after a minute again not as strong as the control line but good enough.

He gave me a due date -10th April 2009 - and reassured me that there's no reason why this shouldn't be a successful pregnancy .. Nice to hear it from a dr..

Am still going to do a test in few days to make sure result stronger - serial POASer!!

Thanks for all the help xxx
