Ok I hear from all over the place different advice as to what it and what isnt ok to eat when TTC/ pregnant. So I thought this would be a good place to collate all the info-

My specific question is about cheese. I know brie is a no no but what other types are un pasturised and can I eat soft goats cheese because I LOVE IT

Isn't the advice just to be careful when TTC and just be moderate, but don't give up all your favourite foods until you find out you are pregnant? I avoid stuff if I'm not sure about it though, and I don't drink if I think I could be pregnant. No big loss as I've cut right down on drinking anyway. I've cut my caffeine intake right down too.

What is CM?

I'm a veggie too. I think you can get too hung up on food to be honest. I'm just trying to eat normally but I have occasional treats.

Well, the article was saying that soya changes the balance of the hormones (ostrogen etc). But i ve been veggie for years and had 2 children. I just thought i ll mention it just in case there is some truth in it..and some of you are trying and perhaps want to check it further

On the soya front, the advice is conflicting. Dr. Marilyn Glenville has some useful advice on this and nutrition for fertility in general in her 'Getting pregnant Faster' book. She also has a website I think? She says that the research on soya is flawed, and advises that up to 5 servings of soya a week can actually boost fertility. Confusing stuff I know! (I also read that article Tiramissu!). I can't recommend the dietary advice in 'Getting Pregnant Faster' enough - nothing wacky, just healthy food and supplements. I feel tonnes better (so does dh!) and have also lost a stone, mainly due to my cravings for rubbish disappearing. Might be worth checking out?
