Hi everyone

Quick intro, on cycle 6 of TTC and not even a hint of a BFP yet sadly.

I have very recently started temping, as in from the day of ovulation on my current cycle. I've noticed that my temp is varying so much each day, is this normal?! I dont really know too much about temping or what body temp should even be to be honest!

Previously I've been using OPKs - the clear blue ones when we first started TTC and then switched to the internet cheapies a couple of months ago.

I have booked some fertility reflexology in a couple of weeks and the lady has suggested I started temping, but I'm not even sure how reliable my stats are! I've attached a photo for info.

Thanks in advance for any hints:)

@mrsrichy hello, it's difficult to draw any conclusions without seeing what your temp was before ovulation. However it looks like your taking your temp at different times each day? You need to be really strict with taking it at the same time and before you get out of bed or have a drink. Your temp shouldn't be fluctuating that much and it shouldn't be that low. How do you take your temp?

@mrsrichy you won't see any kind of pattern until at least 2 cycles and as PP said you need to take it at the same time every day to make it accurate

@mrsrichy also just noticed they're in the 34s which is super odd and low..

There's something very wrong with this chart. Temps in the 34s is hypothermia and all the little triangles show you've taken the temps at different times. They should be in the 36.3+ range in the luteal phase, to give you an idea of how odd this chart is.

How are you taking your temperature (orally?)? When? Do you know to be completely still between waking up and taking it and to take it after minimum 4h sleep? And do you have a basal thermometer, seeing as all these temps seem to have one decimal only?

Thank you ladies! So after googling and ringing my mum worrying about hypothermia I've realised I've had an extra cap on the thermometer I'm using 😂😂

So yes, all my readings so far have been complete rubbish!

Will start again tomorrow and make sure I take my temp at the same time every day, I didnt know that 🙂

@mrsrichy I'm sorry I've had such a laugh at this 😂 glad you got to the bottom of it though! Same time every day and immediately before you move at all. Good luck 🤞

Haha that's pretty hilarious! 🤣

On the odd day if you temp at an unusual time you can also use a bbt temp adjuster. On an exception basis though :)

@stabal haha not as much as I was laughing at myself! 😂 thanks for helping, I'm so embarrassed 😂

@juno231 it is isnt it, if I had a brain I'd be dangerous 🤦‍♀️ thank you, I'll make sure I remember to take it as soon as I wake up 🙂
