I have my first appt at the end of the month with fertility. We are both going, the letter says we have to attend.
Can anyone give me any info about what to expect from the first appt? Ideally I would like to try some meds to help regulate my periods due to my PCOS.

Hi @Sarah5678 is this with a fertility specialist or with the GP?

I had an appointment with the fertility clinic last week. They asked me how long we'd been trying for, how long my cycles were, how long my period usually is, any PMS, checked my BMI, asked if we had any trouble with intercourse (if my DH has trouble or if I'm in any pain), how often we have intercourse, how many units of alcohol a week we drink, any caffeine, if we smoke and some other questions I have forgotten (sorry). They then booked me in for tests to see if my tubes were open which is in April (I asked for April as this gives us a few more months of trying naturally) and if they were, they would start me on Clomid. Hope this helps x

Thanks for replying!
It is with fertility specialist. Can i ask without being rude if you BMI is normal? Mine is a bit high and despite trying so hard i cannot lose weight well and think it is related to PCOS.
Thanks so much for all the info it has gave me a great insight what to expect! X

@danielasummer if you don't mind my asking, how long did you have to wait between your GP referring you and your initial appointment with the fertility clinic? My OH and I are waiting for a referral (just waiting for his semen analysis so my GP can refer us) and we are worried about long waiting lists. We were surprised that he had to be added to a waiting list for an appointment for his semen analysis.

@Sarah5678 hi, no problem. Yes of course - mine was 21.4 so within normal range. I might have PCOS but with no cysts if that makes sense, so just have all the symptoms. I've recently (last 2 weeks) cut all refined sugars and processed carbs so I will let you know if it helps. Mine isn't to lose weight, just to reduce inflammation. Happy to help/advise you where I can x

@pjmeek82 hi, of course not. I was referred then around 6 weeks later I had my appointment. I didn't realise there was awaiting list for semen analysis - my DH is getting this done in April (if nothing has happened for us naturally) so hopefully we won't wait too long for the results and can start with any needed treatment x

Thank you! Since my referral I have waited 8wks to my appt at clinic. My GP won't do semen analysis, said it has to be done at the hospital! Different areas probably do things slightly different x

@Sarah5678 I also have to ask my DH to do the semen analysis at the fertility clinic (attached to the hospital), not the surgery. x
