Hello I am new here :0

I think I am going mad I really do......

AF came on 27th June - 44 days ago - My usual cycle is about 35 days so there is every chance I could have ovulated anywhere between 14-21 days. At about day 23 I started getting very obvious pregnancy symptoms, very tired, sick, metal mouth, dizziness, headaches and I was convinced I was pregnant didn't test though. At day 31 I started bleeding - it was a wee bit early for me and started off as brown old blood for about the first 12 hours then it turned bright red and clotty for 2 days then tapered off and stopped. Nothing particularly unusual but a bit earlier and a bit shorter than normal and also not as much of it but at any other time I would have said it was AF or Miscarriage.

I had a chemical pregnancy in December 06 and assumed this had happened again. That time I felt pregnant before my AF was due, I tested positive about the day AF was due and then started bleeding - a lot! All pregnancy symptoms stopped as soon as that happened so I assumed it would be the same with this one.

However it is not the same I still feel pregnant and have done for the last 2 weeks I keep thinking it is pregnancy hormones in my system that will fade but they are not fading, they do fade for a couple of days and then they start up again with a vengeance. Have done lots of tests and all BFN so what on earth is happening....husband thinks I am still pregnant but I don't am really worried I have some sort of horrible illness...

I have been to the doctor and he told me to sit tight for a week - 10 days, it's been three days and I am so so worried, can't think about anything else, keep trying to ignore the symptoms but get really upset and weepy when they come, it's horrible.

Anyone?

Symptoms are starting again, why is my body doing this to me?

it could just be changes in your hormones causing this
wait the time the doctor has said and do another test if still bfn then they will probably test you for changes in hormones i too suffered bad with hormaonal changes are you wanting to be pregnant?

sorry your feeling like this though must be strange for you but matybe if your wanting to be pregnant your body may be reacting to that

I do want to be pregnant but I am not desperate yet. This was our first month of TTC (2nd baby) and I certainly didn't think it would happen this quickly, it took about 6 months of TTC last time I fell pregnant and that time I miscarried or had a chemical pregnancy so I deliberately don't put too much attachment or emotion into it - just in case! I also miscarried at 12 weeks before I had DD.

I would rather know I wasn't pregnant and just move on, I am rational and pragmatic about it - what will be will be and all that....but my body playing tricks on me is doing my head in!

i can imagine i suppose your body knows subconciously that you are trying but maybe it is hormones just playing tricks on you but then some pregnancys can go undetected for a while so just wait time doctor has suggested and then do anothr test good luck though and dont let it bring you down you have a gorgeous dd i also have problems with fertility but thank god have ds and so glad i had the opportunity to experience it some others would love to have that just once as you say what will be will be they do say if you dont try it happens so enjoy and relax xx

I would phone up GP explain how you are feeling and demand a test.

As it is you're not going to find out anything until after the weekend - I wouldn't prolong your agony. At lesat if you do a test in the morning you will probably have the result by Monday.

Like you say - at least if it is negative you can try and move on, but at the moment you are stuck in a horrible limbo.

I would go back to GP! They shouldn't really dismiss people like that. Maybe there is an early pregnancy unit near you or at your local hospital? Maybe try phoning NHS Direct to get a second opinion?

I think that I would probably feel the same as you do. Don't let your doctor say wait ten days if it's driving you mad. There are other complications like possible Eptopic Pregnancy? I've heard that sometimes they don't always show as a BFP when you test.

I'm not trying to scare you but you will know your body best and if you think somethings not right then it's quiet likley that something isn't right.

Thanks - yes we did discuss ectopic pregnancy but he thought it was unlikely as I had already had a bleed and cramps 14 days ago and it had gone away after a couple of days and it was no worse than a normal period (in fact better)- he did say that if I get more bleeding and severe cramps then straight to A&E.

We also discussed the possibility of it being a molar pregnancy but again he thought this was unlikely as they apparently produce a lot of hormones so I would therefore be testing very positive.

Just did another test (it's my new addiction ) and again is negative.

It's just quite distressing to feel so pregnant but not be...I am sure it's just hormonal but have managed to get myself really paranoid that it is something really sinister.

I have private health insurance - I might give them a ring and try and get some sort of appointment....

It's good that your GP discussed MP and EP with you but he really should have done more than discussing it like maybe doing a blood test or sending you for a scan. I know people who've been reffered for scans for less.

I've been looking for private medical insurance recently as I'm ttc and wanted to be covered if I wanted a private room after birth and for any complications ect but there aren't many that offer that sort of cover.

I would push your GP I really would, it's best to know what has happened.

Pixie04 - check with your maternity ward re private rooms.

With my first - I had already booked a private room and I think it cost about £40.00 per night.

I was told that they give priority to mums who have had a c section or a traumatic birth (in which case they are allocated free of charge) but I was still allowed a room when I turned up as there was one free.

In the end I had to have an emergency c section so they didn't charge me for the room at all.

To cut a long story short - check what private facilities the hospital can provide before you look into taking out private healthcare.

Lizzie

It is not correct to assume that ovulation occurs around 14 days before the start of the next period. Ovulation can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. At a cycle length of 35 days you are right on the cusp of this being an irregular cycle. My guess for what its worth is that you've had an anovulatory cycle this month hence the negative results.

The GP should arrange for a blood test to be done to determine what is really going on rather than another pg test.

I hope you get a definitive answer soon.

Sorry can't offer any advice Lizzie here's hoping it's all ok though.

Just wanted to say re. private rooms - when I was last at hospital for tests a notice by the desk said it was £100 for a private room Does it vary a lot across the country?

scorpio1 · 10/08/2007 11:51

why do you want a private room?

nomoremagnolia · 10/08/2007 13:47

Me? I don't. (Don't even want to stay in hospital overnight if I can help it)

I was worried about who would be in the next bed to me ( completely ridiculous I know).

First time around I also thought it would be quiteter at night but it wasn't - I think the walls were actually made of paper as you could hear everything through them.

I think they are more private during the day.

Hope you are OK today Lizzie (I am going through something similar at the moment though not as bad)and I hope you got some joy out of your GP.

I am now wondering whether I have had an anovulatory cycle (having looked it up on the internet)as although I had just come off the pill it was not with a view to having another baby.

Interesting with regard to the anovulatary cycle....

I have googled it as well and what I am confused about is why would I have pregnancy symptoms with this - nowhere mentions that this could be conducive with it??

Symptoms wise - thought they were going away but no started feeling quesy again about an hour ago, sobbed last night for no apparent reason which is very unlike me....also still got that heightened sense of smell ho hum!

Will see what happens over the weekend and then back to GP early next week I think. I can cope till then....

I thought about a private room as I'm a bit of a private person so I'd probably appreciate a bit of peace and quiet if I do have to have a hospital birth (you never know how these things will go that is if I ever manage to get pg)

Thanks for you guys advice on that.

Lizzie I really hope it works out okay for you, keep us posted yeah?

Hello all

Well symptoms seemed to have disappeared thank goodness I have felt much better over the weekend and almost free from symptoms today.

Whilst I was googling anovulation I came across quite a bit of information on ovulation and some of the signs to detect it and I am pretty sure I ovulated this weekend which is great and confirms even more that I am not pregnant! (however I maybe next month )

What I am still utterly confused about is why did I have such strong pregnancy symptoms for 4 weeks??

2 options 1) I WAS indeed pregnant and miscarried and it took 2 weeks for hormones to leave my system or 2) I was never pregnant but for some reason felt pregnant for a month (why would this be? Still don't know the answer to this......)

Any thoughts appreciated.

Here we go again period due in 7 days and I am starting to get pregnancy symptoms again. So I have had 10 days free of symptoms and now they are starting up again, this could be the start of a new pregnancy?? as we were quite active during ovulation or it could be another month of weird hormonal imbalances....

Not getting my hopes up on this one and looking forward to my gynae appointment on Friday when hopefully he will tell me what is going on.....
