Hello,

New to this... me and my partner have been trying for a baby since November (2018).. I've just come off contraception in October after having a bad smear test.. I had pre cancerous cells and had to through the cells been burnt off the nurse says it shouldn't effect me getting pregnant.. since then only had 3 periods and getting my cycle back to normal, baring in mind I have been on contraception since 16.. I'm now 29... I'm wondering if anyone else has had same experience and been able to get pregnant.. ALL my friends have gotten pregnant so quickly leaving me feeling less than normal, I just want to know there's light at the end of the tunnel!!

Thank

Emma

@nemsrads I came off the pill in January and have only had one period after 74 days and I don't expect one any time soon either. I'm currently on day 29. From what I've read it can take best part if a year to get your cycle back to what it was previously.

At this rate I'll have a period at only once a quarter..

@nemsrads I can’t offer much in terms of a bad smear test but I can offer some hope in TTC. I have been trying to conceive since November too and I’m also 29. I caught on my third cycle but ended in a mc in Feb :( hoping to catch again soon. Just because you have had the precancerous cells it won’t stop you gettin pregnant. My husbands sister had the same thing and within a year she was pregnant. If I’ve learnt anything from this, it’s that lots of people struggle in some way or another but they always seem to come out on top. I have another friend who had a cycle that lasted 123 days then had one period then caught. It will happen for you! It’s so hard to believe in that, trust me I’m approaching ovulation and doing it every day since my OPKs started to get darker but I still feel some negativity! Just gotta keep it in your head that you were given those parts for a reason. Hopefully a year from now we will have our babies! Xx

Hi, girls..

I'm so sorry for your loss that's awful, I've had 2 months in which I thought I had gotten pregnant but with negative pregnancy tests nothing came of it. I think I'm so new to it I don't really know my cycles yet, I downloaded an app for ovulation but tbh I don't really know what I'm looking for!?

Hopefully I'm just overthinking it but I just want me and my partner to have the little ones we always talk about :)

Thanks

@nemsrads it can take longer than you think for your natural cycles to return. In the past it took me well over six months to be able to see regular ovulation. Are you using ovulation strips? That can help.

No, I'm not particularly using anything really I'm just hoping nature takes its cause, but if I need to do anything I'm willing to try ANYTHING!!

Hi OP. I had the same procedure as you, a colonoscopy, due to pre-cancerous cells picked up by a smear in March 2015. I got pregnant in February 2016 with my DD who is now 2.5yrs old. I am now pregnant again after getting a BFP this morning. I was very nearly 31 when my daughter was born and am now 33. I just wanted to reassure you it is definitely possible after the procedure. Hope you get your BFP soon Flowers

I am feeling the same as you...had the same procedure 6 years and thankfully all smears have been clear since. Been trying since December and it’s just not happening. I hope that we get positive news very soon! I’m 31 too

@nemsrads remember that you only have about 48 hours each cycle where your egg is viable. Sometimes you can be having periods but not ovulating yet because your body is getting back in sync. I'd suggest you get some ovulation tests and use them with one of the apps.

That's really good, that's deffo made me feel a lot easier about it, I will pick myself up an ovulation kit.. it's worth having a go! What do I look out for when I'm ovulating, it's all really new to me!

Thanks

@nemsrads
Hi I had the same as you re smear and the nurse assured me it won't have any impact on getting pregnant but I might need a stitch in my cervix to stop me going into early labour.
I came off the pill after 5 years a year ago. My periods have on just become regular over the last 2/3 months hang in there it takes a little while to get back to normal

They seem to be sorting out, I seem to be right about the date I used to come on, I've been on implant before trying, but I was on the pill for many years before that.. I have a bleed, but very short lasting 3/6 days, this month I had a bleed with no symptoms of period, which was strange for me because the symptoms have up till now been out doing the actual bleed.
