Are BBT or CB digital advanced OPK more reliable?

Quick question i hope you can help with, which of the two above us more accurate in regards to ovulation day?

I had a positive (static smiley) OPK test on CD 22, and BBT with Natural Cycles confirmed Ovulation at CD25 - 3 days after positive OPK. I'm not sure this is correct though because CB OPK says peak lasts for 48h, so we BD:d on CD 22-24 as I thought I would have ovulated by then. Do be sure I didn't ovulate late, I tested with CB on CD 25 and it was negative.

Now to the part I don't get... my temp has been higher than the coverline as per usual after ovulation apart from one dip on CD 27 that went under coverline, and now natural cycles has recalculated my OV day to be on this day!!

What would you trust more, clear blue and ov pains or natural cycles?? If natural cycles is right we only BD:d up to CD 24 which was OV day according to CLearblue as well as the app until I took the temp this morning (which is really high) because of that dip on CD 27 😢 means we would have missed the most important day for BD this month which is why I'm asking.

Sorry for the long ramble, the window each month is so small and I just don't want to waste it.. and it feels like the app is changing the goal posts lol, been BD:ing religiously 3 days up to ovulation day plus the day of (what I thought) was ovulation, which has now changed!

Sorry j just saw on inconsistency, I meant that day 24 was OV day according to clear blue, app said ov was between day 23-25 with 25 being most likely day. I took another CB test on day 25 though after the static smiley disappeared, and it showed an O which is low fertility.

Which is why I was certain OV was on day 24, tracking CM and ov pains also pointed at this...

I had this one month with FF; OPKs showed ov on CD17, as did cm, bbt confirmed this with a jump in temp, then i had a random EWCM and a drop in temp and FF changed my ov date. In the end the first ov date was right and AF showed up on CD 28.

I had a similar thing last month, but with fertility friend. I have the positive OPK and CM signs pointing along with rise in temp, but then a few days later my temperature dipped and then went up again so FF switched my ovulation date. I similarly was very confused and we BD'd that evening just in case it was right, but then AF showed up 4 days later which tallied with the original date.

I read a lot that BBT is the best way to know you've ovulated, but it's not working for me yet- I bought a new thermometer this month so maybe I'll have more luck! We're trying SMEP this month as that sort of makes sure you don't miss your window (although we're worn out already and still a way off ovulation!)

What cycle day are you on now? Could you BD again just in case natural cycles is right?

Thanks for replying girls, I would have gone mad without this forum! No one knows we're TTC so it's difficult to go mad on my own lol!

@whyhaveidonethis oh fingers crossed that the first date was right for me too then! 😁

@Charlotte9876 I am on CD 31, my app showed that the OV date was CD 24-25 the entire time and just changed to 27 this morning, so it is too late which is why I am annoyed! I thought I timed it perfectly this month but if the app is right I haven't. Fingers crossed ovulation can't be 4 days post solid smiley on CB Advanced digital...

@SunStruck Can't help with the Clear Blue stuff as I've never used them, but my experience of Natural Cycles is that it's pretty accurate, although might take a few cycles to get used to you - how long have you been using it? I used it for nearly 3 years before turning it to TTC mode although after stopping the pill my body seemed to go back to normal straight away (which I know not everyone's does).

The cycle I got my BFP I had a drop below cover line at 6dpo which may or may not have been an implantation dip (concensus is still out on whether that is actually a thing or not).

@Weathergirl1 thanks for your reply! I've used it since beginning of October last year, but I just came off my pill after 5+ years at the same time. It took me until jan/feb to go back to fairly normal (I got some dydrogesterone prescribed by my OBGYN to normalize my cycles). This is the 2nd month of TTC and I am impatient, so it annoys me if Natural cycles got it wrong 😄 I'm hoping it is between what clearblue OPK says and what NC says!

@Weathergirl1 oh and thanks for the info about implementation dip, I've heard about that! Did your temp stay up the entire time after this dip?

@SunStruck above coverline since then but with a weird peak and trough pattern every 4 days. Goodness knows what that actually means (or if it does mean something!).

If your cycles have only just started to normalise, it might still take it a few more months to get used to you, which I can totally understand would be frustrating! I used the One Step OPKs - might be worth looking at those as they're much cheaper too!

Oh and just another thing - sometimes your body can gear up to ovulate and then doesn't and tries again later, so it's possible to get positive OPKs and then not ovulate. I had a really late ovulation one month which I think was delayed because of stress. LP was the same as usual though once I had ovulated so it just made the entire cycle longer.

@Weathergirl1 wow your chart looks so even, mine have bigger temperature differences! I'm new here so can't post pics yet unfortunately.

Congrats on your pregnancy 😄😄😄 if you don't mind me asking, how old are you and how soon did you get pregnant after stopping the pill? X

Just turned 39 but have been off the pill since April 2016. We used Natural Cycles for contraception until January this year - conceived on cycle 3 but still early days so not counting anything!

@Weathergirl1 I m 35... it gives me hope, you know how everyone's making it sound like 35 means falling down a cliff fertility wise, and it really worries me 😢 I've never been pregnant before (been very good with contraception) so I have no clue whether I'm fertile or not fingers crossed.

Good luck with your pregnancy 😄

@SunStruck totally understand that and felt exactly the same! If you look into the stats though, there's no such cliff at 35 - it's really bad scaremongering stuff doing the rounds. I'm a bit terrified of what's ahead if I'm honest so had done a lot of reading around the subject before we even contemplated TTC. I can recommend Expecting Better by Emily Oster - there's a chaper on conception in that. She was 30/31 when she had her first. Good luck with your cycles regulating 👍🤞

@Weathergirl1 had a 0.38C dip today in temp 7DPO in (which is quite significant). Just hovering 0.05C above coverline this morning.

So hoping might be like yours, implementation dip (is that exists), but I doubt I'd be that lucky! I have an early pregnancy test at home but decided against using it as I'm sure it would just be pissing on money at this point 😩
