disappointment of AF arriving.

This month I really felt like I could have been pregnant, so when AF arrived yday, it's the first time since ttc (cycle 7) that I have felt horrendously disappointed, DH feeling the exact same too this month. However, to make the disappointment event worse, AF has arrived with full force and I'm having the most painful cramps, making me feel even worse.
How do other people deal with the disappointment of AF arriving?

Personally I've always tested before AF arrives so know she is coming. AF due today. BFN this morning. I had a cry and a cuddle with DP. Alcohol will help
