Conception

Positive but is it false?

I have had a really strong positive this morning. My last AF was in Oct but my cycle has taken a while to settle since coming off the pill in Aug so i thought it was just irregular rather than late.

We have barely been 'trying' because I've been away working for a month so if this is a positive it must have been conceived in October.

I can't get a doctors appointment until next week. What can i do to confirm until then?
Am I better waiting until tomorrow morning to take another test?

Worried sick as I've been tipsy about 3 times in the past month.

Congratulations! One shag is enough if it happens to be at the right time.

Other people may know better than me but if you've done the test correctly I don't know of a reason why you'd get a false positive especially if it's obvious.

Your doctor may well not do you a pregnancy test, mine didn't as they are no better then the home tests. My advice would be to do another test (I did 3, a supermarket cheapy, then an expensive clear blue and a clear blue digital just to make sure as I was fairly astonished).

I also wouldn't worry about having had a drink unless you are alcohol dependant, just stop now and mention it to your midwife when you get your booking in appointment, I had a raging hangover when I found out I was pregnant, having mistaken what turned out to be implantation cramps for period pain. It's very common and unless you have issues with stopping drinking then theres very likely nothing to worry about.

Thank you!

I'm off to buy some more tests. Over the moon but just don't want to get my hopes up as I didn't think we'd caught my ovulation dates with me being away a lot.

Unlikely to be a false positive.

No need to go to the doctor's, they won't do anything. Just register with the midwife- call your surgery to ask how you do that.

Congratulations.

All you can do to confirm is a pregnancy test and you've done that and it's positive, so Congratulations! :-)

Unlikely to be false positive, unless it is one of those Superdrugs that give loads of false positives.

I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for you :)

@cottoncandee 2 Asda, 1 Clear blue. All 3 strong positives appeared instantly.

I've just got a gut feeling it could be high hcg due to cysts or something more sinister. Bloody anxiety!
