Hi I've been casually TTC for the last 5 months and had no luck so this month we are trying more seriously and would love some tips!

I'm currently 2dpo so tips for next month would be helpful eg should I temp? Should I use opks? Etc

Thank you!

Yes, absolutely use opks :) they can’t tell you IF you’re ovulating so bear that in mind but they will show you when your LH surge occurs and that will give you a rough idea of when you’re ovulating (or should be at least!) You can chart your temperature which will show if you’re actually ovulating. It’s very precise though and you have to be sure to take it at the same time every day and you have to do it before getting out of bed. I can’t do it as I wake up a lot during the night and also often get up to wee so it’s not for everyone. You can get cheap opks off amazon, I get the pack of 30 and it’s about £3.50 or something. The best time to pee on them is afternoon/early evening and you should start around CD9. Your LH should rise gradually until it’s positive (when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line) and once it’s positive, ovulation tends to occur around 36 hours later. It’s not an exact science, you can have an LH surge and not be ovulating but they’re a good place to start :)

Google Preseed lubricant and have a read - lots of success stories! I would also advise to start taking vitamins if you haven't already, something like pregnacare conception or similar!
I also read online that eating pineapple after confirmed ovulation can be good, the Bromelain in it has lots of heath benefits for fertility, you can read about it here - http://natural-fertility-info.com/bromelain-pineapple-for-implantation.html I bought one pineapple and sliced into 10 rings, leaving in the core then eating 2 bits per day post OV.

We also followed the Sperm Meets Egg Plan this month which was really interesting, and tiring! Grin http://www.pregnancyloss.info/spermmeetsseggplan.htm

A hot water bottle post OV can also be good in moderation for your belly as it can help implantation, a cold womb is never a good environment, just as long as it's not burning hot against your skin!

I hope this helps! Thanks x

@dancingunicorns123 me and DH are also starting to try properly now. You can get the Sperm Meets Egg plan on ibooks on your iphone, its a good reas but it does look tiring!

I'm taking seven seas folic acid with vitamin D but after taking my BCP religiously for 13 years in the am, remembering to take this is a nightmare! Good luck xx

This is what I've been doing...

Drink LOADS of water up until OV, apparently it's good for CM.
Look out of EWCM (TMI, but especially when you go to the toilet and wipe).
Use OPKs, every other day from about a week before you expect OV and then every day when you do expect it / when you see EWCM. Also temp. Once you get a positive OPK have as much sex as you can until the day after you see a temp rise. The rest of the time just do it when you fancy.
After sex, try not to jump straight up - but don't try to lie for hours either. I manage 5-10 mins.
Try to keep warm.

I've only been doing this for the last two cycles, and I've had BPF each time - both ended before 7 weeks - but I seem to be ok getting pregnant.

If your not sure when you'll OV, I've been using natural cycles and ovia apps and find them reasonably accurate, even with really irregular cycles. (I'm a bit of a geek, and did try ALL the apps)

Good luck Flowers
