Hi, I’m new to this TTC stuff, but can I ask if this OPK is positive?

Is this positive?

I'd say yes, both lines are pretty much as dark as each other

Yes assuming the control line is nearest the green bit.

The test line needs to be darker than the control.

Yes the control line is near the green.

Although we are trying we aren’t planning it around ovulation. Just seeing how things go. I’m trying to get a grips on my ovulation as I have PCOS and I got a positive test about 10 days ago so I’m really confused.

Thank you everyone

A positive OPK you mean? What cycle day are you now?

If period due a positive OPK can sometimes be a sign of pregnancy.

Alternatively if you've simply had two positive OPKs a week or two apart it could be that your body's geared up to ovulate once, failed and then geared up to ovulate again.

For a fuller picture you want to be doing basal body temperature. Since your OPKs are so clear, you might as well do both together.

If you got a positive 10 days ago and this is positive could u be pregnant. Have you took a pregnancy test. Xx

I don’t think I can be pregnant, haven’t had unprotected sex for a few weeks. Although I got a tiny faint line on an online cheapie test then did 2 more which were negative so I thought it was faulty.

I’ll do another pregnancy test and see but I doubt it. The only reason I did the OPK today was cos I was getting pains which I thought were period but was only on one side so it must have been ovulation pains.

Yes an OPK can show pregnancy but it can also indicate your period is due as you will have another surge just before. If the OPK is positive for pregnancy then a pregnancy test will also be very positive.

I’m sure you know, but with PCOS you can get several positives on opk and not actually have ovulated, because - as Bertie said - your body tried to but couldn’t quite finish the job. I was buying the super expensive clear blue advanced tests for months before I realised I was getting constant false smileys, and no period or pregnancy would turn up at the end of the month. I would really recommend taking your temperature. I’m new to it and it’s really helped made things clear and it’s how my mum (also with pcos, only two periods a year) conceived me. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone

Milliepad I didn’t know that so thank you. I literally have no idea apart from what I’ve read on mumsnet.

I will start taking my temperature - does it mean when it goes up I’m ovulating?

I’ve attached my chart so you can have a look - usually the boost in temp mean a you’ve already ovulated, and a bit of a drop means it’s about to happen, I think. I’m very much a newbie so others might be able to give you more help than me, but the crosspoint shows where ovulation occurred. SOmetimes you have to do it for a few months before you can see a pattern but with us pcos ladies that’s not always possible! So it’s just a case of learning your own unique cycle and keeping an eye on everything. I’d recommend downloading the fertility friend app (free for standard membership) and getting a digital thermometer (basal body thermometers available on Amazon). Oh... and I’ve been shouting off about u everywhere but I’d recommend drinking red raspberry leaf tea to aid ovulation - it’s been working for me 😌

Your temperature will rise AFTER you’ve ovulated. So you only really know once it’s happened. So it’s always ideal to be DTD every few days of your cycle if you can.
