TTC for a year

Went to the docs this week as have been TTC for a year. Bit gutted that he said all they will do is check I am ovulating, if I am then it'll be another year of trying before they actually do anything. Well done ovulation tests so know I am, bit pissed off that it just seems like a wasted visit and I thought that a year of trying meant we might actually do something to move things along. DH has had his sperm tested and generally positive news from that

Why will it be another year? Maybe I was lucky, but after not ovulating for one month (I knew as was doing the ovulation sticks) I got put on clomid and three months later, voila a pregnancy.

So I don't see why you wouldn't be offered clomid straight away as I was.

He said that if I was ovulating and husbands sperm came back okay then I would be told just to try naturally for another year before anything else happens. What is clomid for? Congrats on your pregnancy

FYI ovulation tests don’t confirm ovulation

They confirm you are gearing up for ovulation, but not that it actually happens. This is fairly common eg PCOS.

So not a total waste of time.

But I’m surprised that’s all they are testing. Normally you’d get a cd 3 and cd 21 blood test, plus an internal scan

Thanks for that info, I didn't realise it meant I might not be ovulating. Next time I go in I will ask about those tests as well
