Zika free January sun

Hi all

me and husband are just starting to ttc and we have a holiday already booked to Mexico in January.
I have been reading into Zika and found out Mexico is a moderate risk zone so we are thinking about cancelling and rebooking somewhere else.
Has anyone been to the Canaries in January? Online searches show temps of 20ish degrees, is this warm enough to sunbathe? Only ever been there in the summer when it is warmer so not sure if its a little cold?

We have looked at florida too but can anyone else suggest any other Zika free locations?

Thanks ladies!

South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are all experiencing their summer at that time of year. There aren't many sadly if you are looking for proper heat.

Thanks for the suggestions, It's just the distance with these places though, think they are too far for 10 days/two weeks.
I had totally forgotten about the zika threat until this week, its a bloomin pain!

Dubai - weather is lovely at that time of year. Also Marrakech, Muscat, Zanzibar, Sri Lanka. All good options for a bit of sun.

South Africa is about the same flight time as Mexico and would be lovely at that time of year. Cape Town is beautiful and well worth a visit. If you wanted somewhere more beachy then Kenya might be a good option.

Oh I've just seen Kenya has Zika. I'm a bit out of date, sorry.

Shite so has Zanzibar. This is very shit news as were just back from Kenya (end of July) and booked to go to Zanzibar in December. Not great at all!

Thanks all for the suggestions, it's all a bit of a headache! Thankfully though we can change our holiday with first choice without losing any money which is a relief!

I've looked at Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Hawaii but all stretching the budget just too much!
I love the idea of South Africa but if I went I'd have to do a safari or feel I've missed out and again a tad too expensive.

Think I'll just risk Lanzarote, 20 degrees has got to be better than 5 anyway, right!

We've booked Cape Town for the very same reason (plus I've always wanted to go). It's not cheap but direct flights only take 11.5 hours and Mexico is 10.5 I think.
