How many times do you DTD during your FW?

After getting my ovulation dates spectacularly wrong this cycle we only managed to DTD twice during my fertile week this month. Once the day I got a positive OPK and once the day before that. Hoping it's enough but not convinced!

Last month I went for every day up to two days before ovulation. Bit gutted I couldn't do it the whole week but hey...currently in my TWW

When we were going through some fertility issues the consultant told us to DTD every other day.

1 or 2 - doing it too much can actually decrease the quality of the sperm

Bit concerned you say fertile week though - the vast majority of pregnancies happen from dtd 2 days before to the day of ovulation - you should concentrate your efforts in these three days only (as long as you are confident on when you are ovulating. Male sperm can only last a day or two.
Look up the statistics on the internet about what day of period people get pregnant - it's quite interesting

I promise I'm not selling clear blue! Just focus dtd on day before ovulation if you can

My last pg I dtd once not planned no idea when ov was.

This pregnancy we did it 3 times in the whole month (I didn't track intentionally) but I think one of those was way before ov the other two closer too as I got prominent pain in my pelvis.

So to answer your question yes once/twice can work it did for me.

Good luck x

For those saying that doing it every day decreases sperm quality ....this is only true if your OH already has an issue with sperm quality or quantity.
The reason they say every other day, is because this should be sufficient enough. However, if you do decide to try every day this won't decrease your chances. I know plenty of people who have sex every day in their fertile week and have gotten pregnant.

My only pregnancy happened from having sex once, 4 days before ovulation. I was so shocked as thought that we definitely didn't have a chance that month - DH was working away. When I mentioned this to the midwife she said that sperm can live up to 5 days so wasn't that surprised.
I had a MC so we know focus on dtd every other day or sometimes every day at 5 / 6 days before ovulation and always the day of ovulation.

I'm watching this with interest.

I missed a few periods when we decided to start ttc and have finally had one Grin
On that note I'm pretty sure I'm heading into my fertile window! I don't think hubby will understand what's hit him for the next week Grin!
I was going to aim for every second day.... this seems pretty common among everyone on here ttc.

With DS1 we did it 3 times over the space of 8 days. I wasn't using OPKs so was just sort of estimating when I may be fertile based on my cycle length.

With my current pregnancy I was using OPKs whilst TTC and we only DTD once which was the day before my positive OPK.

I was also advised by a fertility expert to do every other day.
He suggested that if sperm has been 'stored' in the testes for too long it decreases your chances and the same if is being replenished too often.

Sounds gross but I wanted to keep myself sperm-filled at all times during the fertile week and that's why I did it every day. I currently have a faint positive so just waiting for my TWW to end. I think so long as than man has some sperm to give then there is no harm releasing it everyday.

Also my friend who has just given birth has irregular cycles and had no idea how to track. So she and her DH did it everyday (it wasn't fun) throughout the month and she got pregnant that way.

3-4 times. Usually 4 days before ov then 2 days before, day before and day of.

When I was pregnant with DS, we dtd once day before ov and once a few days before that. Only takes once!

Over two years trying to conceive, I was tracking my ovulation doing OPK...and the month we did end up getting pregnant we only DTD once the night before DH went out! I remember being so upset with DH as he had gone out to see some old friends and got drunk so was useless that night and the next day. I thought I was out that month, so huge shock to see a positive test!

For DS every day for three weeks, I have a long cycle though and wasn't sure when I was fertile. Worked first month but we already had one child and no fertility issues so not sure if that helps.

We just dtd every other day for pretty much the whole month so there's no risk of ever missing ovulation. It's worked well for us so far as I've had 3 pregnancies in 7 months with about 3 or 4 cycles at the most in between. 2 of these pregnancies have ended in mc, hence the frequency, but still, the actual caching ovulation bit is clearly working!
