me and my partner have been trying to have a baby for about 8 months now, i came off the pill and then had a period, then didn't again for 5 months, then had another 11 days later and now not had one again since the 25th May. i have had blood tests and my FSH level is 55, reading forums i have come to believe this is very very high Sad, i am so so scared that i will not be able to conceive and i desperately want to be a mum, i need to have more blood tests as well but i just dont know my options anymore and if there is still hope for me...i am only 29 so this has come as such a shock to me and i just dont know who i can turn to and ask who has been through the same sort of thing.....i have also been having the symptoms as well, hot sweats etc

anyone with any stories of their own, advice, tips or anything please help!

Ive had bad periods since stopping the pill in Jan 2017. Went to the drs last week and had a blood test. I got two weird results I have to disucss with them next week. No idea what the results mean.

Doing a bit of research someone said if u have a high LH and other high results then it could be pco which you can control with a pill and that can help with ovulation.

I will let u know what my drs say on monday. Last week they said if anything appears negative etc they will send me for an ultra scan. Have u been told if u need one?

hi Littleonek, yes i have been told i need an ultrasound too, just to make sure my ovaries and womb that looks ok, but mine is basically that my follicles are working overtime to try and ovulate and they're just not, my body isn't responding, im so scared i just don't know what to think. not too sure about your results either, but if it is PCO i think this can be reversed and treated, its so scary inst it, how old are you?
i have a consultation with a specialist next Friday for more diagnostics, i just want to be a mummy

Thanks, im 26 and was on the pill for four years so Im hoping my results will just be my body recovering from being on the pill.

Im sorry to hear that, im sure they will be able to give you some medication to fix things. :)

Yes your fsh is high. This likely means That you have low ovarian reserve- ie not many eggs. It also means that you wouldn't respond well to the ivf drugs.

However- don't panic yet. Egg quality is far more important than quantity, and at your age, any eggs you do have are likely to be good. High fsh itself doesn't prevent conception, unless you have other issues.

My fsh was high age 34- I've been pregnant 3 times since and have 2 kids now.

What are your next steps?

I would say- don't hang around. Your blood results do suggest you need to be conceiving asap as you will run out of time quicker than others.

Ps- check your fsh was taken on the right day of your cycle. The result is only valid if it was taken on cycle days 1-5

Do you mean this? I had my FSH results tested too and they were normal? I think the reuslts I have that are bad are saying I have too much testosterone. Weridly my period started the day my blood was taken so it was on Day 1 of my cycle. Only 21 days late Angry

Hey Hun

Thanks for the input what was your FSH, so do you think I could still have my own baby either naturally or with fertility help??

Little - sorry I'm not sure if you're replying to me or the OP?

I'm afraid I don't know much about testosterone levels. Fsh and Lh tests should be taken on cycle day 1-5.
Pcos is indicated if your Lh results are higher than your fsh results.

Charlie- my fsh was 12.4 - so higher than it should be (under 10).

I then had the amh test- are you having this? Which confirmed that I had low egg reserve. I also had a scan which showed I had a low number of follicles.

So- yes it's possible to conceive- however- you need to still be ovulating. Do you know if you are? There are tests you can have on cycle day 21 to show if you are or not.

Cart before horse. Fsh levels can change. If they were not taken with your period, ignore completely.

The pill can play havoc for some people for up to a year after stopping. You need more info, but there is no need to panic at this stage.

When did you have the fsh test? Just at random? If so, the result could be meaningless. What has your gp said?

If is true that coming off the pill can mess up the return of periods, but don't assume it's just that- you need to know what's going on.

I'd be asking for the amh test and a scan to count follicles I think.

Agree with chattycat, who probably put it better than I did.

I went back to the drs this morning. She said I have suspected PCO. And I have to have an ultra scan to rule it out as my other blood result ratios are fine.

She said the pill doesnt affect testerone levels so it cant be that.

It take a month to get an ultra scan appointment.

Also have to have blood test results done next month on day 2-5 of my period as the test I had done was on the first day of my period. Im getting the LH and FSH ones retested.
