Can someone help with my chart?

Evening ladies,

I'm a bad BBT-er and have an inconsitent chart due to waking up at odd times and having disturbed sleep. FF thinks I'm on 17dpo. It's moved my crosshairs a few times now so I'm not sure whether to trust it. I don't want to test until period is def late. My cycle is irregular.

Do you agree with my chart? If not, when do you think I ovulated? This def confirms that I have ovulated, right?

Can someone help with my chart?

To chart accurately you need to take your temp at roughly same time each day otherwise ff just can't pinpoint ovulation accurately.

But if you're struggling with that (I have DS who wakes at 4am so I have similar problem) then using other signs in conjunction with temps will help to make it more accurate.

I record:

Opk result - positive or negative
CM - I notice yours was C on the supposed Day of ovulation which doesn't tally with you ovulating that day - it would be EWCM if you are fertile, or at very least W. C is not fertile CM.
Other signs e.g. Ovulation pains.

Try your best to take BBM same time each day but if that's too hard the use opks and CM to strengthen the chart and make it more accurate.

Also did eod is best route to conception so I'd up the amount you're having sex.

There is a temperature shift on your chart which is why ff is thinking you've ovulated but id need more info to tell if you did or not. Have you tested?

Roughly how long is your usual luteal phase?

At 17dpo you should be able to test with frer. I would just go for it.

Thanks choochoo

After I took this mornings temp FF removed the crosshairs entirely, so looks like I'm facing another long useless cycle. Since coming off the pill at Xmas my cycles have been 80, 35 and now 37 and counting.

I usually take my temp between 6 and 9am - I can't wake DH.

I've never seen any EWCM. There's some sex I've not recorded on the chart but I'm not going to get overly stressed about eod until I know I'm ovulating. I didn't want to opk but guess I'm going to have too next cycke

:( I feel your frustration it took 3 months for my af to come back after coming off the pill then another few months to stabilise.

Stupid question perhaps but do you take your BBM straight away when you wake, before moving / sitting up?

You will be ovulating otherwise you wouldn't be getting af but it just hasn't settled down yet enough to get a pattern. It will though, you're likely almost there if you're starting to get around 35-37 days each cycle.

Definitely track your cm - best way to check for cm if its not very noticeable is to put fingers up (sorry!) and scoop some out to look at.

If you've got long cycles like me you might actually ovulate later. I ovulate on cd21. It's likely you've missed it this cycle because you're now at cd27 but next cycle you should see it.

If you can take your Temp instantly when waking up that will give you best result and as close to same time as possible. Opks are a pita but they do help if your cycle is irregular.

Your temp chart is nigh on impossible to interpret with any real degree of accuracy.

With your cycle being as irregular as it is I would call a halt to charting altogether; its not helping although you probably feel like you are doing something. OPK's are a waste of money if your cycle is that irregular as well; it does say something on the OPK itself about this. Do not stress yourself out further by using OPK's as they can give multiple false positive results if cycles are irregular.

I would actually see if your GP can now arrange for you to have a day 3 blood test done; that can be done according to calendar days so you do not have to wait for the next cycle. Irregular periods are often caused by hormonal imbalances; this can be down to polycystic ovaries or thyroid problems to name but some possible causes. Both need looking for through blood tests.

It is also possible to have periods without ovulating, that may well be happening here.

Were your periods irregular prior to taking the pill as well?

I'll think they might say it's too soon after coming off the pill. I went to gp to ask for help when af hadn't returned and then was sporadic and they sent me away saying to wait to see if it returned to normal and it did. But it's always worth a try, especially if your cycle has always been irregular.

Thank you both for your help. During my last cycle there was a very clear temp jump and AF came 11 days after (albeit with spotting for many days beforehand, and it was super light and short). That's why I got my hopes up I'd be able to spot O again this time round.

choochooo yes, although I take my temp at different times it is always first thing - I do not get up or sit up (I may roll over to reach for the thermometer). Sometimes I don't get 4 consecutive hours sleep beforehand.

I can't really remember what my cycle was like before the pill! As a teen I think they were fairly normal - if they were irregular they weren't by much. And happily they weren't painful.

I also suspect doc will fob me off, at least until I have a few longer cycles to stamp my feet about.

I'll see how I feel about OPK's, I think I will find them more stressful than temping. For the most part I'm staying pretty relaxed, just occasionally feel frustrated by my cycle and get annoyed when FF takes my crosshairs away :(

I vote for making life less stressful then. If it stressed you out to use opks then definitely don't like the other poster suggested. It'll just make you miserable and stress isn't good for ttc.

Why don't you try what they suggested and just not temp or use anything for a while? Remove the stress and give your body time to adjust after the pill? Having temped for 2.5 years altogether ttc (before my DS and now ttc no 2) it really is a pita and if you can get away without it then do!

Good luck to you :)
