2 mc's in 6months. Still TTC.

Me and OH have been trying for 9 months now. It took a few months but we were over the moon at the first pregnancy. It didn't seem real but everything changed as we realised how excited we were and how much we really wanted that baby. I miscarried but I picked myself back up straight away and carried on (after an emotionally healing holiday together) and caught again after 2 cycles!! The second pregnancy felt different, no symptoms at all and I knew something wasn't right. I have just miscarried again. Having two mc's in such a short space of time is upsetting but worse than that it's worrying me that there could be something else going here, not just a simple case of "one of those things", "not meant to be", "bad luck" etc etc

Should I be worried and seeking fertility testing? I've been pricing it up privately and think it's really a small price to pay for piece of mind and some clarity...

Is anyone else in a similar boat?

I been googling and it says that only 2% of women miscarry twice consecutively...

I'm so sorry for your losses - I know how heartbreaking it is. Not quite the same situation but last year I had a MMC at 10 weeks. I then fell pregnant again 3 months later. That pregnancy sadly ended at 4 months due to a tfmr. I asked my consultant at my follow up appointment whether there was any link between all these things and he said very unlikely. Tragically these things can sometimes just happen.

That said, if tests would help you and affording them isn't an issue then yes I would go ahead and see what they can do. Did you miscarry naturally both times? I only ask because without any of the babies tissue to test I'd imagine the tests can't be absolutely complete - but I don't know as have never had tests.

Again I'm so sorry for what you've been through. The elation of finding out you're pregnant then that being snatched away is just heartbreaking xx

I too was told it's just 'one of those things' after my second chemical. I was told I need to have another miscarriage and or ttc for another 12 months (after already ttc for a year) before any nhs testing.

Not sure if it is 'one of those things' as I feel something is wrong and I will never carry a pregnancy... not sure what I can do though!

I had two back to back miscarriages. I was gutted. I was told one more and I'd be referred to the reoccurrent miscarriage clinic for investigations. I took 6 months off ttc to get myself together and conceived again on the second cycle.
I was a bag of nerves my whole pregnancy. I had early scans and could never fully relax but my dd is 8 months old now.
It takes a lot to keep picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and going for it again but worth it i promise.
I have a friend who had 5 back to back mc and now has 4 dc.
Go to the doctors, speak to them about your worries and if you feel emotionally up for it go for it.

I also had two missed miscarriages in a row, both at ten weeks. Devastating is an understatement BUT I now have a beautiful 7 month old daughter. So sorry that this is happening to you

physicskate I know exactly how you feel. So sorry for your losses. I can't believe they have said you have to go another 12 months without catching before they will test?! I knew it was currently a 3-in-a-row mc rule and the nurse told me they were changing it but she wasn't sure what they were changing it to.
I don't want to go through this a third time if I can help it which is why I have looked into private testing. Is there anywhere local to you that does it?

I was medically managed for my first mc and natural second time. I never thought to keep any of the tissue either time. I wouldn't know the best way to store it for testing.
From what I have read, the tests widely offered mainly focus on scanning the womb, taking blood and semen analysis (my OH is thrilled at the thought of that!)

My OH thinks I'm jumping the gun a little bit and that we have just been unlucky but I don't think I can cope with going through this a third time.

Personally I would at least get my thyroid tested including for thyroid antibodies. It is apparently a reasonably common cause of early miscarriage that is pretty easily sorted. Have a look on the Thyroid UK website for info on levels etc as not all GPs are very clued up and can reassure you that everything is fine when it isn't

I had an MC in Feb, a CP in July, an MC in August and am now 20+ weeks following a BFP in early December. I think for me it was just one of those things sadly. I have one DS already who it took 20 months to conceive so seems that with him, the length of time was one of those things too.

RE Re the tests, my GP counted my CP as an MC and so I got the thyroid test and also one for blood thinning - sorry no idea what it was as was at a very difficult time.

I guess I am just saying, try not to worry as you may just be unlucky but also if you can afford tests, I'd do it. Good luck x
