So basically I took a FRRR yesterday evening got a BFP then took a CB and got a BFN. Took both test today and got BFN for both. At the doctors now but could I still be pregnant or does it not look good? I'll insert picture of BFP.

Hi

That pregnancy test does not look like a FRRR, it is the right shape, but wrong markings on it. Are you sure it was not an ovulation test?

There are a number of possibilities, but I think with 3 negatives and only one positive, that it was most likely a false positive.

Things that can cause a false positive coming into contact with an ovulation test (eg dipping both in same urine sample), faulty test (this is rare), viewing result outside of recommended time, flooded test, using an opk test instead of a pregnancy test.

These are more likely as that test looks a very strong result, and very unlikely to get a negative result within a day of taking it, so therefore it is very very unlikely that it is a chemical pregnancy and much more likely that one or more of the tests were faulty sorry.

I think the cb is less sensitive but I don't get it either tbh. I am still missing my period and no signs of it coming I can't even feel my cervix it's so soft and high. Maybe it's just I am too early or could t have picked up implantation perhaps?

Have in the back of your mind it could be ectopic. I had this very same thing. Just be aware of any ectopic symptoms over next week or two. Stomach/shoulder pain.

I will keep that in mind, thank you Fieldandgrasses

So the second test was a positive but very faint. Could this be a bad sign or good sign ?

Actually now i've looked properly, i'm not sure that is a pregnancy test. It doesnt have any writing beside the window to indicate a positive or negative result which all FR tests have Confused do you still have the box? Could the company have mispackaged some of their products?

In the early stages of pregnancy it is very easy to get positive and negative results with different samples of urine, at different times of day and with different tests. For me in early pregnancy I always got a better result with second morning urine rather than first! Even the amount of ink in the same batch of tests can vary. So testing the same urine sample with the same type of test can yield different results. So early testing is very irratic.

However, the test you posted a picture of is not faint by any means, and that is what makes me wonder if the test was not correct.

I have had 15 pregnancies and all but the first I tested early and followed through the testing til miscarriage or 12 week scan! So I do have a bit of experience of this. The strength of the result from the test you posted in your OP, would not just disappear to a very faint result the following day, except if the urine you used the second day was very dilute and the previous day very strong.

Were the CB tests digital or normal tests? Digital tests are generally less sensitive, so them being negative would not surprise me if it is early, but with the strength of response to the first test, it should have even turned a digital test positive if using the same urine sample. Did you used the same sample for both tests done yesterday and the tests this morning were they both done in the same sample or separately?

I am now a little confused you said in your OP that the test today was a BFN, but now you are saying it was a faint positive. Can you post pictures of the other tests?

They where clear digital ones. I got a new test today so what I will do is I will take this test one I am finished with my hair. The doctor is going to ring me with my hcg results this afternoon some time so I will post these also. I am unsure what happened.

I used urine from the evening for the BFP then today I used the FMU for both. But I can't find the sensitivity of the test anywhere.

I left it for a good while tho so the faint could actually be a evaporation line.

The one on the left is the one this morn, the other is yesterday.

Sorry but that very positive test as I said earlier looks like either a faulty test or it is an OPK in the wrong packaging. The second faint one could be an evap line, I have had evap lines on those tests before now.

However having said that, the qualative blood tests test up to 25miU as negative, so I have had a blood test say negative before now for my pregnancy with my 3rd child! (actual result was 7 and 25 pregnant, with anything in between being reported as negative)

So there is a very very slight chance that you might have a positive test at a later stage, or you could be like my mum and sister and be pregnant with never having high enough hcg to trigger a positive test.

The most likely situation is that you are not pregnant or at least not yet enough to test positive.

Sorry that you have been upset by a false test, perhaps complain to the manufacturers.

I have written to the company to see what they say, i had the same issue with my second child tests where coming back negative but i was indeed pregnant and it was just too soon to tell. I am getting a very light bleed almost as if the blood has been watered down almost. What would be the best thing to do ?
