Conception

Am I likely to still pregnant after 'miscarriage'?

I started bleeding at 6+1, which was 2 weeks ago, very heavy fresh blood for 2 days and brown (old blood) discharge since then. I was convinced that I had miscarried. However have still been having sore boobs, tiredness and v mild nausea. I tested yesterday with a CB digital expecting either a not pregnant or pregnant 1-2 if my hormone levels were still on the decline from miscarrying. It was pregnant 3 + so I must still have a high amount of hormone or am still pregnant. I will go to the doc tomorrow and ask to be referred for a scan but just wondered if anyone had experienced similar?

A friend had a miscarriage and was still pregnant - she must have been having twins.

That's what I wondered. Confused

I've had very heavy bleeds in all my successful pregnancies, all started as gushing blood. My miscarriage started as spotting. It could be a subchorionic haematoma.

Why didn't you go for a scan? Lots of people get bleeding in pregnancy. Get yourself to EPU ASAP!

I didn't know I was pregnant until 8 weeks because I had a heavy bleed at around 4.5 weeks that I just assumed was a normal period.

I've gone on to have a normal pregnancy so far (25 weeks). Some people just bleed during early pregnancy despite there not being anything wrong.

I also had a miscarriage the pregnancy before this one at 11 weeks. The pregnancy had stopped at 6 +4 (only discovered at a scan) but when the time came it was definitely definable as a miscarriage and not just a heavy bleed.

A scan will confirm one way or another for you Flowers

To be honest I genuinely thought that the sheer loss of blood was a definite miscarriage. It happened very unexpectedly, no cramps or warning at work. I was quite shocked so I cancelled the scan firstly because I was so convinced I'd lost it and secondly because as it happens I had no childcare for my other 3dc. When I was still bleeding a couple of days later I thought I'd made the right decision. It was only when I realised my symptoms were still there that I began to wonder even though I still have the dark brown discharge. So I tested. I'll speak to my doctor tomorrow and ask to be referred.

I miscarried at 6+4 and bled for 11 days so with only 2 days of bleeding it's possible you could still be pregnant. Fx for you, get checked out asap. They also say bleeding without cramps (or cramps without bleeding) can be OK, it's both when they usually worry about mc. Hope it's good news xx

Even with cramps and bleeding there is still some hope. I was convinced id lost the baby with each of my bleeds. Sometimes the bleeding itself can irritate the cervix and cause a bit of cramping when the pregnancy is still ok. You really can't know without a scan/negative test.

Also I bled/had brown discharge on and off for weeks and weeks after the main bleed so duration is no indicator either.
Fingers crossed for you.

Applemagic that's reassuring, thank you! The positive test threw me, I was really expecting to have a lower number of weeks pregnant or a 'not pregnant'. To be honest, I still feel very pregnant so I'm not sure what to make of that. I won't get my hopes up yet and hopefully I'll have a scan soon.

I had a HUGE bleed sometime between 6-8 weeks. HUGE. There was no pain and it stopped as soon as it started pretty much. Assumed miscarriage (would have been 4th MC in a row). Then weeks later noticed I was putting on a lot of tummy weight. Rushed for a scan and I was 16 weeks pregnant Confused

Never assume is what I have learned! Good luck for Weds Flowers

Fingers crossed OP! My first thought was maybe you were expecting twins but I know lots of women can bleed quite heavily and still be pregnant.
Hoping for good news for you on Wednesday!

I had a big bleed at almost 6 weeks. Really heavy and sudden. Cramping but not majorly painful. Convince I was miscarrying and waited it out. 2 days later it stopped, hadn't passed any pregnancy tissue so got sent for a scan. Everything looked normal, baby had a heartbeat. They couldn't explain the bleed.

I didn't end up having a missed miscarriage but that was unrelated.

Fingers crossed for you!

I bled and assumed I'd miscarried, sent to EPU, baby still there and I was told it was an inplantation bleed.

Keep us updated OP!

havea cupoftea thank you! With all the ups and downs it feels like no one's rooting for us in RL!

Everyone that has replied, thank you so much! I really appreciate all the reassurance, and even if it's not good news (which I'm prepared for) I'm thankful that had such good advice and thoughts as I have here.

I tested again today and still got 'pregnant' 3+ on a CB digital, so I really can't call it. Basically nothing will surprise me tomorrow!
