Could I be pregnant?

Hi All,
I'm new here and forgive me for not knowing any of the abbreviations.
I'm looking for some advice, my period is 13 days late and I've been getting lower abdominal cramps, feeling bloated and super tired. The bloating and cramps seem to have disappeared over the last 2 days though. I've taken 3 pregnancy tests over the last week. 2 superdrug and 1 clearblue and all have been negative.
Should I make a doctors appointment or just wait and keep testing? Can the tests really be wrong?

Have you been on hormonal birth control recently? Are your periods normally regular?
There are a very small number of women who don't get positive urine tests but it is quite rare. There is more than likely another explanation for your missing period. It can be stressful and confusing though. I hope you get answers soon.

There can be all sorts of reasons for a missed period.

Are you trying to conceive?

Report
TheScaredyKat · 13/06/2016 21:22

Not trying to conceive as such, we've been talking about trying in the not too distant future so perhaps we've been a bit careless. Blush
I've never been this late before but maybe have been a bit stressed recently. Not sure what to think.

Do a test? Then you'll know one way or another...

So I should assume that the test results are accurate, it can't be just that the hormone takes a few weeks to show up?

Well, they do of course, if I was you, I'd wait a week (hard I know) then do another test, if still negative, then maybe book a GP appointment?

Stress can delay ovulation, which will in turn delay your period as the time between ovulation and period is usually fairly constant.....

I'd be surprised if the tests were wrong. More likely is that you just ovulated late so your period is due later than usual.

Maybe I remember your labour thread! How's the baby?

Well bastard he's generally quite good but he's screaming his bloody head off at this precise moment!

13 weeks tomorrow, can't believe it's gone so fast.

Yes!? Is the labour a distant memory yet Grin

Not so much that I'm thinking about having any more right now or ever Smile

Oh dear, are you going to have a chat with the GP?

Just wondering the same! If it's a no-no or too early!
I could possibly be Pregnant and have noticed over the past couple of days, slight cramps (which I rarely get when i'm due on), I have been so terribly tired (almost dizzy), noticed increase in discharge, very noticeable blue veins across my breasts and ever so slightly nauseous (i'm off my food, unlike me). I did a test however it was negative. From what I have read, I may have taken this too early and to try in another week or so (I have no patience so it's killing me to know)! What does anyone think?

I'd be due my period again in a week or so, maybe I should wait and see if it turns up before going to the GP?

Harleyquinnzel how late are you? Some of the tests say you can do them up to 4 days before your period but don't know how reliable it is. Feel like I'm in limbo atm

Go to the doctors. If you've missed your period but the tests are still negative then you are probably not pregnant, but that still doesn't explain things. Ring your doctor's surgery and explain and they might want to take a look at you and test you there.

I'm approx 4 days before I'm due on so there is time yet however these symptoms I've been having are out of the blue for me. I'm gonna do the 2nd test in just over a weeks time if AF is a no show. Frustrating isn't it?

Keep us updated Harleyquinnzel. Been to the docs, he did another test which was negative again. Said it is not possible for the test to be incorrect...but then instantly contradicted himself by telling me to do another test in a week?! None the wiser

4 days out, hpt are only about 60% accurate. The numbers two days out though are much higher (98%) I think. I wouldn't waste the money on testing too early.

I think it's fair to say that I no longer believe myself to be pregnant since over the last week all my symptoms have vanished but I still haven't had my period. Now I just want to know what's going on as this has never happened before

Update: AF has arrived, definitely no baby.... Although I think this whole experience has confirmed in our minds that we really do want a baby so think we will probably start trying properly very soon. Eeek!
