Advice - when to stop taking pill (Cerelle)?

Looking for advice please.

DH and I have just started thinking about TTC DC2. DS will be 1 in a few weeks, we're thinking about aiming for a 2 year gap.

We were very lucky to conceive DS the first month trying. I had been on the combined pill for years, came off 4 months before we started trying to let my periods settle back into a regular cycle as I didn't want to stress if they took ages to come back.

Now I'm wondering when to stop taking my pill. I'm still breastfeeding so have been on the progesterone only pill from about 8 weeks postpartum. I haven't had any bleeding at all. I'm not sure if this is down to the pill or breastfeeding. I've also read that it can take a while for your body to get back to normal after coming off Cerelle/Cerazette and it may be harder to conceive.

I feel like I should possibly stop taking the pill quite soon, but hate the faff of condoms when we don't want to conceive for a few months yet. Do I just need to suck it up? There's no way of knowing whether my periods will have returned without stopping taking the pill is there? (Stupid, wishful thinking question...)
