Min-max no. of days from first injection to egg extraction?

Hello lovely community!

I'm 37 and about to start my first IVF cycle. Never been pregnant before. My husband and I are in that 27% of couples who can't conceive for despite all the signs being OK. He is 43.

Can anyone tell me the number of days (minimum and maximum) between first injection and when they will extract my eggs? I just got my period but my husband is traveling for 2.5 weeks in a few days time. I'm guessing I'll have to wait til my next period before starting the IVF injections, ie, once he's back as they say they want the sperm sample on the same day as egg extraction. One nurse said 12 days, the other said 21. So I'm a little confused and they won't answer me by email.

So annoyed!

Is anyone else about to start their first cycle on the NHS?

Hi mia what protocol are you on? For the stimms I believe the very minimum is 8 days, av 12, then EC 2 days later. If you're doing short protocol you'll need to wait if they won't freeze his sperm

If you're on long protocol you'll start downregging on about day 21 of this cycle, and stimms around 10 days later. That'd be fine as he'll be back

They said they will decide on the day of collection whether I'll be ICSI or the other one. If that's what you mean by protocol? Actually I think you probably mean something else. The standard timetable of self-injections says 12 days of injections on average before the final HCG injection. I just wanted to know the min-max of those first injection days. Like does it range from 8 to 16? Or a smaller parameter... I know the timetable parameters from HCG onwards: 1.5 days after HCG for collection and if fertilised, then transfer can be 2-5 days after the HCG.

Hi mia so you're on short protocol, it's the drug regime. The shortest would be 8 days, not sure of the longest. Anyway, guessing you've not started this month.
