Clear Blue Fertility Monitor Confusion!

Hi everyone, I'm new on these message boards :) I'm on my 3rd cycle ttc baby #1 and this month I'm using the older clear blue fertility monitor and I'm so confused! I'm CD 15 (but 14 as far as the monitor thinks) and all I am getting is low readings. The day before yesterday I had a positive opk which went to negative yesterday, and I noticed ewcm in the morning on CD12. My bbt rose slightly yesterday but went down again this morning so I'm so confused. Has anyone had similar experiences? Is my monitor defective? I'm also less sure of my cycle since switching from Pregnacare to own brand vitamins as it massively extended my cycle. Last month I had a 28 day cycle (ovulating on day 17) which was a pleasant surprise as before that with the pregnacare it ranged from 33-36 days...I also suffer from endometriosis to add extra complication!

I used the monitor to conceive no 1 but I did have cycles where it missed ovulation. This time I am planning on using a combination of methods. Keep using the sticks this month. Have you tried a fertility app like fertility friend to track all your signs? That would use your temp to confirm ovulation. Sometimes I would look at my chart and be like ??? But the app made sense of it

Hi kittyvet. Thanks a lot for your reply. I've been using Fertility Friend for about 3 months now, I find it really helpful and usually it's spot on in its predictions. This month seems to be a bit unusual for me. Usually when I get a positive opk I ovulate soon after. However looking at my temps I clearly haven't ovulated yet (I've attached my chart). I was really looking forward to using the monitor but I think it's making me feel more stressed as I had another low reading this morning. I always think it's odd that the monitor uses morning readings because as far as standard OPKs go thats the worst time of day to get an accurate result!

To be fair, I usually seem to ovulate between day 17 and 22 and today is day 16, however my last few cycles have been inaccurate due to the Pregnacare extending my cycle. Last month I ovulated on day 16 or 17 and ended up having a 28 day cycle for the first time since coming off the pill. It could still happen I guess but I'm not really getting any signs that it's imminent so really confused! I had major ovulation cramps earlier this week but they're fading now.

You really need to use the monitor for a couple of months so it gets to know you and your cycle xxx

Well mrs rose it maybe you aren't quite there yet. Monitor may only show high for a day or two before the peak which is equivalent to an OPK. Also don't rule out possibility missed ovulation occasionally. I tried for over a year for Dd1 so don't lose hope! It's early days :)

Thanks for your replies Moomazoo and kittyvet. Yes I have a feeling this month might be a no show on the OV front. I have endometriosis (although was apparently completely removed for the 2nd time in 4 years in July), and due to weird spotting before my periods I had a blood test and scan done and I'm not thrilled with the results. GP said all was fine despite scan saying that I have thin endometrium (5mm when I've read it should be 8mm) and TSH Thyroid levels of 4.83 which apparently should be between 1 & 2. The endo was what I always feared would be the problem but it seems I have more to obsess about now! Seeing my endo consultant on Wednesday so I'll see what she says.

Trying to remind myself that it is indeed early days but it's hard. Especially as I'm a bit of a control freak and I can't really control this! Thanks for being so nice :)

Hi all
Have only just started using my clear blue advances fertility monitor after ttc unsuccessfully.
I'm quite confused as day one my reading has come up as high? Is it possible that I ov alot earlier than is normal? Or the machine is just getting used to me?

Hi Fayenicole15. Did you do your first test on the first day the monitor asked you to? Was it day 6? It might be that you ovulate earlier than you think. What reading did it give you today? I finally got my peak reading yesterday, on day 24!

Hi Fayenicole15, yes in the end I didn't ovulate until day 25! Hmmm it sounds like you ovulate early. I had 5 days of high before I got my peak so I reckon yours is imminent!
