Hi there, basically my BMI is too high (around 34), I started losing weight with the aim that I would get my BMI under 30 before we started trying, that plan did not quite work out and we have started TTC despite still being technically obese. I exercise reasonably regularly but trying to up the exercise and reduce the food intake while trying to not do anything oo hard-core as I don't want to stop myself ovulating. Anyone else trying to shift a few lb/kg while TTC. Hows that working out? Managing to make progress? How do you avoid conciliatory wine/cake etc when AF arrives?

Hi, I had a bmi of 34 back in March. I've got it down to 27.5 and we started ttc. I'm still losing weight now during ttc but very slowly. I've had a lot on so not had time to monitor what I'm eating fully. My bmi is now 26.8. In an ideal world I would like to lose some more before getting pregnant but at the same time if isn't the end of the world if I don't.
I was spurred on with weight loss as I wouldn't want to carry pregnancy weight with all the excess weight I had as my joints are already suffering. I also want a home birth and as many doors open where birth choices are concerned, and wouldn't be allowed if obese.
We're on cycle 4 of ttc so this in itself can take time so you have chance to still lose some weight. You just have to really focus with the food part as you cannot lose on exercise alone. Good luck x

Forgot to add, I used my fitness pal and basic calorie counting to lose. I didn't count exercise calories burned.

I second Queen re Slimming World. My BMI was 39 and is now 34 after 12 weeks on SW. Just under 2 stone down! Still got more to go and am still TTC in the meantime, but not expecting it to happen naturally as it's been nearly 3 years! GL to you though. I agree that it is best to lose weight if you can before TTC, however although 34 is technically obese, it is not the end of the world. The issue with me is PCOS, so it is that, as well as weight, that is making it harder to conceive due to it messing with ov. I'm still gutted when AF arrives, but on SW you do get treats (known as Syns), so if you want a piece of cake or glass of wine, you can, and you will still lose weight.

Good luck! I'm sure you will enjoy it, it's much less restrictive than calorie counting.

Hi everyone!

Hope you are doing well with your weight loss. Does anyone else have any tips to share? My BMI is 25 and I just need to shift about a stone to get it spot on. It's so hard though, I find that when I am conscious of the calories I end up putting on weight! I'm not doing much exercise but I have got my steps up to 5000 a day now. I have been trying to complete the 7min workout on the 7MWC app.
