8 days late, 3 negative tests - what's going on?

I'm now on day 39 (usually a fairly regular 29 days) and have gotten three negative results. On Sunday, I started getting PMS symptoms - slight cramping, bit of nausea, slightly tender breasts. But no AF. This morning, I had a teeny amount of spotting but nothing since. Last month, I also had a very late period - 39 days, which the doctor attributed to stress (planning a wedding, getting a new job, moving to Scotland and a death in the family) and I'm still quite stressed but I never have periods like this so I'm freaking out! Has this happened to any of you ladies? Any advice welcome!

I clearly posted this after everyone had gone to bed, silly of me! Still no sign! Should I be as worried as I am?

Hi, I'm not trying for a baby but last month I had a 39 day cycle which is very unusual for me, if anything mine are normally around 21 days. I did so many pregnancy tests I lost count, all were negative. I've just put it down to a random longer than usual cycle. I think if you miss more than three periods in a row that's when your GP will start investigating. If you're under some stress your hormones may just be a bit out of kilter.

Hi PrincessShcherbatskaya, I hope you are right. It's been hugely stressful so hopefully it's just that! Did you get a hormone test when that happened? Or just attribute it too stress?

PrincessShcherbatskaya Tue 19-May-15 14:10:50

No, I thought I'd see if I missed more than one period and if so then I would go and see my GP, not sure why it happened to be honest, I've got a 6 month old and although my periods returned when he was 8 weeks I just put it down to my hormones still being a bit unsettled. If you're concerned maybe you could discuss it with your GP, if your period doesn't come at all they may do a blood test for you.

The thing that is really freaking me out is the fact that I've had some spotting, some light cramps and some nausea, but still no period. I never normally get spotting and the cramps are much lighter than normal but still no period.

I'm freaking out about those same things! Had blood tests for hormone levels, thyroid etc this morning - really nervous about the results now! How are you getting on?

Supermummy25 Wed 20-May-15 21:40:40

My hormone tests came back normal and it finally arrived 10 days late. Don't have an appointment until June 8 though so am assuming it's just stress and will try to chill out a bit! At least if the hormone test is normal, I hope that means not too much else could be wrong!

Sylvie35 Thu 21-May-15 18:29:59

That's good - hopefully now it has come you will go back to normal cycle again. I'm waiting on my test results tomorrow and can't get it out of my head! I think we all need to find new ways to relax smile

soontobemrslizzy Thu 21-May-15 21:28:42

I hope yours comes back normal too! I'm sure it will be OK.

Supermummy25 Thu 21-May-15 23:39:14

Sylvie35 Fri 22-May-15 11:28:24

hiw late are you both?.im now on day 16! this has never happened before, im feelin very anxious

Sylvie35 Fri 22-May-15 12:52:51

Massively late! Last AF was early March! If everything is normal blood wise, I guess it must be stress?

Supermummy25 Fri 22-May-15 13:14:19

this is the 1st time my AF has ever been this late apart from when i was preg so i just dont understand whats goin on. just really worring as i am normally like clockwork..i am in the process of getting a mortgage but dodnt think it was stressing me that much but maybe it is

soontobemrslizzy Mon 25-May-15 23:35:17

How are you both doing? Did AF come? I got tested for thyroid, hormone levels and I think glucose. I'm still going to see a go and ask but I guess it really just was stress. Unless this month is late too. I'm quite a bad worrier and so when it was late, I got really worried it was pcos or something, so I'd still like the doc to confirm it's all good. I was quite sad the pregnancy ones were negative though sad

Supermummy25 Tue 26-May-15 00:02:33

hiya, still no AF, i will be due my next one next wednesday lol. going to docs 2moro to request thyroid tests hopefully will find out more then. i was like u even tho im not ready for another baby i had convinced myself i was pregnant bcoz thats the only time AF hasnt arrived sad do any of u already have children? x

Supermummy25 Tue 26-May-15 09:26:35

Sylvie35 Tue 26-May-15 09:28:55

Still no AF here either! Made another Dr appt for next week to see what he thinks it is, as all hormone tests etc came back normal. Mainly to help put my mind at ease, as i am still worrying!

Supermummy25 Tue 26-May-15 14:41:07

Blanketsandpillows Tue 26-May-15 22:48:37

Hi, can I join the conversation? I know how you feel-it's been 6 weeks since my last period and no sign of AF. I've done loads of tests and all negative. I'd love to be pregnant so am completely symptom spotting which is driving me mad. I hadn't thought about thyroid or anything like that.
Good luck all of you!
