Wanting to conceive.

Hello all,
I have just joined mumsnet and hoping for some advice from you lovely people.
My hubby and I are just starting out on our journey and decided to stop taking the pill. I am terrified that I won't be able to get pregnant- I'm so broody!
Does anyone have any hints or tips? Any websites or apps that are good to take a look at?

Hi Milk. Welcome to Mumsnet.

If you're into books then I would recommend the "Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant" by Jean Twenge as a good "in" to the world of ttc (although for others reading this, it's definitely the sort of book to read right at the beginning of your journey, and not many months in as by that stage, it probably won't tell you anything you don't know already).

I also really like the textbook like "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler, which is not the type of book you'll ever grow out of.

The monthly buses on Mumsnet are fab for meeting others who are on a similar journey and for picking up hints and tips. I suspect, the best one for you (depending on when your next period is due, if that comes) will be December.

Good luck - unfortunately it's impossible to predict how easy your journey will be, but the good news is that 50-60% of couples do get pregnant in the first 6 months of trying.

thanks for that. I've ordered the impatient women's guide, ovulation tests and a digital thermometer!! the buses sound interesting. Are they actual busses? (sorry if that's a really thick question!!)

They're not real buses - just threads on the conception boards for each month, (there is currently a November and December 2014 bus), that you can join, and then chat to those who are also trying to conceive and aiming for a positive pregnancy test that month. A link to the December bus is below:
