Does anyone get pain when they ovulate? If so, what does it feel like and do you get it before or the day that you ovulate? I had a day of cramping this month (the same day the egg whites started) and a couple of days before I was expecting to ovulate. Could it be this?

Mine is VERY painful and it's always on the left side, every month! I get it on the day of ovulation (final day of ewcm). It doesn't feel like cramping to me, it's a very sharp throbbing pain, very similar to a stitch when you're running!

I get really painful aches low down on the left side (mostly) just above my hip bone at ovulation time. I can be bent double with the pain and unable to sleep at night, it's worse than period pain definitely.

When I was TTC I tracked it properly and it was quite consistent so it could be worth doing down the line if necessary.

Thanks for your replies ladies. My pains just felt like menstrual cramps, so not what you experience, so prob just my body being weird and messing with my head! Sorry to hear it's so painful for you. I guess on the upside at least it must reassure you that an egg's come out?!

I get the stabby stitch pain in my right side, sort of between my belly button and my hip bone. It's bad enough to take pain killers for. Usually about 36-48 hrs before I ovulate. It's worse when I try to poo. Then terrible bloating 24 hours before I ovulate. Then it all settles down, and I seem to ovulate then. It's definitely all in the run up to ovulating, not during or after.

I get ovulation pain for at least 2 days, sometimes 3 or 4! Its always on the left and I always liken it to if you've been holding your bladder for a long time and it starts to hurt. It does seem to affect my bladder too actually and it makes my pee a trickle instead of a waterfall! Also sometimes it feels like lots of trapped air bubbles in that side and it hurts more when I sit down and 'all the bubbles compress'. Its most uncomfortable and some months are a lot worse than others. I remembered why I was on contraception all these years! Been experiencing it 19 months since starting our ttc journey.
