Opk issue / question

So we been trying for a few months and using opk's.

I've notice a pattern does anyone else get a ever increasing line, then it starts decreasing (at this point I think I must have missed the surge) to then 2 days later get the increasing lines again up to a real surge point?

I've been monitoring myself due to a very long cycle and wondered why I hadn't been conceiving and now I know is because I seem to ovulate at a strange time and I had been missing it. But now it seems my body gets to a certain hormone level and then stops it self, only to then continue the increase a few days later.

I've had a read online and cannot see anyone reporting the same issue.

Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

How long has been this long cycle?. Cycles of generally 35 days or more tend more often than not to be anovulatory ones. If your cycles are long and have remained consistently long it may be that you are not ovulating regularly. Such irregularity of periods too are often caused by hormonal imbalances which can be picked up through blood tests.

OPKs are next to useless when it comes to long cycles, particularly if they are consistently long. What the OPK is doing here is picking up increased LH levels from time to time, that does happen in the cycle as there is not just one rise in LH.

OPKs actually work on two misleading principles; namely that there is only one rise in LH each month and that such a rise is immediately followed by ovulation. Both of these are simply not true.

I would seek medical advice and have blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are like. Also stop using the OPKs; they are not really beneficial here.

Last 2 cycles were 36 days. Today is day 19 so to my maths with roughly a 2ww ovulation should be about now?

My cycles are long (32/34 days) and like you I had the surge early thinking I had a positive because it was the same as the test line. It was my first month testing with opk's so I decided to continue to test and a week later I got a positive that was darker than the test line. Today I got a positive but it wasn't darker, just the same as the test line. I didn't expect to get a positive until 5 days time!! So, I will keep testing and keep dtd every other day until af is due, just to make sure. I really wouldn't worry, I have three sons and conceived them all without using opk's - I just had regular sex!! Make sure you keep 'doing it' until af is due and you can't go wrong!! :) x

Will try ;)
Thanks all I don't want to be over thinking things. But kind of have a few reasons right now why this or next month would be a great time for us.
Will keep everything crossed
